GIRLS ALOUD'S ROBERTS BREAKS OFF ENGAGEMENT

GIRLS ALOUD star NICOLA ROBERTS is seeking comfort in the arms of her bandmates after splitting from fiance CARL DAVIES.

The red-headed singer, 22, began her relationship with the businessman in January 2007 - just months after she parted ways with her childhood sweetheart Carl Egerton. She and Davies became engaged last October (07).

A source tells British newspaper The Daily Star: "They have decided to call it a day. Things weren't great between the two of them for a while.

"She really thought he was the one and they were planning to get married in the next year or so but, sadly, the strains of her working away for great lengths of time had really started to take their toll.

"Nicola's taking a lot of comfort from the rest of the girls in the band who - as you can imagine - are rallying round."

The Biology hitmakers are currently in the middle of the U.K. tour, with dates scheduled until September (08).
