Scottish rocker ROD STEWART has slammed soccer stars who are motivated by money, rather than their love of the game.

Soccer fan Stewart laments the 'work ethic' of many highly-paid soccer players is now dictated by financial gain. He says, "Too many mercenaries think only of the cash they're going to pick up. "The only ethic is money."
