PHISH ACCEPTS LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT JAMMY AWARD
Phish Appear on Stage For First Time in Four Years To Accept the Lifetime Achievement Jammy. Chevy Chase Accepts Award He Did Not Win! Event Marks Final Jammys; But The Show Is Not Over Yet.

The four members of Phish accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award last night at the 7th Jammy Awards. Its the first time the band stood onstage together since their final concert at Coventry in 2004. The surprise reunion followed an emotional speech from longtime Phish photographer Danny Clinch.

Each member of Phish addressed the audience from the stage. Mike Gordon, Page McConnell and Jon Fishman delivered quick acceptance speeches, before handing over the microphone to Trey Anastasio, who thanked a number of key members in the Phish organization by name and described his former bandmates as "his oldest friends." He also talked at length about the strength and importance of the Phish community, before bowing alongside his bandmates and quietly exiting the stage.

Phish's emotional speech arrived near the end of an action packed Jammy Awards, which featured the unique collaborations the ceremony has become known for over the years. Co-hosts Warren Haynes and Grace Potter opened the evening with a band that consisted of Stax keyboardist Booker T. Jones, Fab Faux bassist Will Lee and drummer Joe Russo. The supergroup ran through a number of classic rock covers, including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Find the Cost of Freedom" (a song Jones is no doubt familiar with after touring as part of CSNY), Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman" and Al Green's anthem, "Take Me to the River." Former New Groove of the Month Rose Hill Drive took the stage next with special guest Matisyahu and his bandmates Aaron Dugan and Rob Marscher (formally of 2001 Jammy nominees Addison Groove Project).

The strange bedfellows ran through a cover of The Flaming Lips' "In the Morning of the Magicians," before Mountain guitarist Leslie West took the stage with Rose Hill Drive for the evening's loudest offerings. The hard-rock guitarist jammed with Rose Hill Drive and Potter on a version of "I'm Going Down" that included "Close Encounters," before offering his signature song, "Mississippi Queen."

Next up, Keller Williams took the stage to perform a solo version of his Jammy nominated song "Cadillac." He was quickly joined onstage by comedian/actor Chevy Chase, who unbeknownst to most is a one-time college band mate of Steely Dan's Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. On this occasion Chase opted to play piano alongside Williams on a rearranged version of "(You Made Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and a medley of "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Take the Money and Run" that earned some of the evening's loudest cheers. The pair apparently bonded backstage and when Williams later took top honors in the Song on the Year category, he sent Chase onstage in his place for a humorous speech that included the line "I want to thank Clive Davis just because I feel like I should."

As the show went on Tea Leaf Green made its Jammys debut with guest bassist Steve Adams (ALO) and fiddler Allie Kral (New Groove winner Cornmeal) for a rendition of their 2006 Jammy winning number, "Taught to be Proud." Big Head Todd's Todd Park Mohr and Squeeze's Glen Tilbrook also sat in with the expanded group on their songs "Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)"and "Tempted," respectively, the latter of which featured some choice guitar work by Haynes himself.

McConnell, who was the only member of Phish confirmed to play the Jammys in the weeks leading up to the event, appeared early on to accept Phish's award in Download of the Year category for the charity track the "Headphones Jam." He also led an all-star jazz combo that included drummer Roy Haynes, saxophonist James Carter, trumpeter and former Anastasio collaborator Nickolas Payton and bassist Christian McBride through two of his three recorded Phish originals: "Magilla" and "Cars Trucks Buses." The performance followed an appearance by Jon Fishman, who presented the Mimi Fishman Memorial Award on behalf of his late mother to the non-profit Rock the Earth.

Galactic balanced its jazz/funk past with its hip-hop present, inviting out a slew of guests, including Booker T. Jones, Sharon Jones, Jurassic 5's Charlie 2na and MC Doug E. Fresh for songs like "Hip Hug-Her, "Born Under A Bad Sign" and "Think Back," among others. The evening's surprise guests really started coming out in force when Beatles tribute act the Fab Faux took the stage with stealth performer Joan Osborne for a rendition of "Come Together." The Fab Faux then busted into "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," a number Phish has covered regularly after learning the track as part of their Halloween, 1994 cover of The White Album on Halloween. Anastasio emerged partway through the song to thunderous applause to take an extended solo, before leading the group into a jam uncharacteristic of the cover act. He remained onstage for the rest of the group's segment, which included a tease of "Bungalow Bill" and a full version of "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey."

The rest of the night focused on Phish, both before and after the four members of the group took the stage to accept their award. After the quartet slipped into the wings, Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein led Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig, String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, Umphrey's McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger and Russo through a series of Phish covers under the name the HeadCount All Stars. Brownstein led the charge through spot-on renditions of "Wilson," "Run Like An Antelope," "2001," and "Maze," the latter of which also featured Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner.

"We accomplished our goals with the Jammys and its time to take this momentum in a new direction," said executive producer and co-founder, Peter Shapiro. The event will evolve into a larger celebration of live music.

The following is a complete list of winners at the 7th Jammy Awards:

A number of other popular performers were seen milling around throughout the evening, both on and off the stage, including Phish lyricist Tom Marshall, Assembly of Dust frontman Reid Genauer, Umphrey's McGee bassist Ryan Stasick, moe. drummer Vinnie Amico, Guster guitarist Ryan Miller, Steel Train bassist Evan Winiker, Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin, Deep Banana Blackout/Tom Tom Club guitarist (and onetime Jammys Orchestra leader) Fuzz, American Babies guitarists Tom Hamilton and Scott Metzger, Dr. Dog drummer Juston Stens, Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno, singer/songwriter Jonah Smith, and singer/bassist Esperanza Spalding, along with the people behind Bonnaroo, Sirius Jam_On, the Rock Band video games, Q104, Rock the Earth, the Homegrown Music Network, HeadCount and JamBase, among many, many others. During the evening, Zenbu Media president Steve Bernstein also introduced the audience to 8-year old Japanese guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa, who is able to deliver note-perfect readings of Black Sabbath and Eric Clapton songs on a guitar the size of his small frame (Miyazawa later performed with Galactic at the Jammys post-party).

After appearing at the 7th Jammy Awards, Galactic headlined the official Jammys post-party at New York's B.B. King's Blues Club. The Jammys post-party is known for its special guests and this year's festivities proved to be no exception. 8-year old Japanese guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa, who worked the crowd into frenzy when he presented the New Groove Award at the Jammys, was escorted onstage with Galactic by Zenbu Media president Steve Bernstein, and proceeded to lead the quintet through a cover of Ozzy Osborne's "Crazy Train." Miyazawa played a v-neck guitar the size of his pint-size body to thunderous applause well past his bedtime. The young guitarist also made a stealth appearance earlier this week at an open mic night held at New York's Rodeo Bar. As expected, Galactic also invited several old friends onstage throughout its late night set, including Jurassic 5's Charlie 2na, Cheme and Trombone Shorty.

KYLIE TOUR CRISIS AVERTED
Australian pop star KYLIE MINOGUE was almost forced to call off the opening show of her long awaited KYLIEX2008, according to reports.

Kylie Minogue performing at The Brit Awards 2008 held at Earls Court. London, England - 20.02.08

The Spinning Around hitmaker, who put her career on hold in 2005 to battle breast cancer, returned to the stage on Tuesday (06May08) in Paris, France to embark on what has been billed as "the biggest tour of her career".

But despite costing over $20 million (GBP10 million) to stage, British newspaper The Sun has reported the show suffered major technical glitches in rehearsals and nearly had to be cancelled due to a nasty throat infection suffered by the star.

A source tells the newspaper, "Considering Kylie couldn't sing on Friday (02May08) and the problems with the stage on Monday (05May08) night, it's a miracle the show happened at all.

"Mercifully all the issues got ironed out in the end and we're all hugely relieved to get that difficult opening night out of the way."

The 39-year-old, who received the Chevalier dans L'ordre des Arts et Lettres from the French government in Paris on 5 May (08), opened her show in the French capital with songs from her 2007 album X, and performed her own version of the Barry Manilow classic Copacabana.

The tour includes 53 dates across Europe which will conclude with a six-night residency at London's O2 Arena, ending on 2 August (08).

"In 2007 I didn't really get to enjoy anything that I achieved, because I was moving, moving, moving."

WINEHOUSE BAILED OVER DRUG OFFENCES
Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE has been released on bail after she was arrested and questioned over alleged drug offences.

Amy Winehouse heads to a Camden bar with some friends at 2.30am. London, England - 23.04.08

The 24-year-old star was quizzed by police in East London over drug offences after footage of the star allegedly smoking crack cocaine was handed to British police.

It's Winehouse's second legal woe in as many weeks; The Rehab hitmaker was accused of headbutting a man outside a North London pub on 23 April (08) and later turned herself in to authorities. She escaped with a caution.

Winehouse, who has faced a long and public battle against drugs and alcohol, checked into a rehab clinic in London in January (08) after a video showing her allegedly taking a variety of illegal substances was passed on to British newspaper The Sun.

She was also arrested, along with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, in Bergen, Norway last year (Oct07) on suspicion of possessing cannabis.

Winehouse was issued with a $714 (GBP357) fine, which she accepted, not realising that paying up is the same as pleading guilty in the Scandinavian country.

SEX TAPE BOSSES TELL HENDRIX FAMILY TO PROVE DVD GUY ISN'T JIMI
LATEST: The porn video bosses behind the release of a new JIMI HENDRIX sex DVD have challenged those doubting the star of the show is the real Hendrix to prove it isn't him - and they'll pay up.

JIMI HENDRIX

Vivid Entertainment co-chairman Steven Hirsch says his company is so confident of the authenticity of the 40-year-old footage of the guitar great having sex that bosses will pay the Hendrix estate $100,000 (GBP50,000) if they've got the wrong guy.

But Experience Hendrix, the family company of the legendary guitarist, must be able to prove the guitarist is not the "star" of the tape.

Experience Hendrix officials have publicly denied the tape actually showed Hendrix having sex with two unidentified brunettes.

Hirsch says, "Vivid took considerable time and spent a substantial sum of money to authenticate the footage and we are very comfortable that this is the real thing.

"We believe that those who say otherwise are relying on their emotions to make unsubstantiated claims. If Experience Hendrix can prove definitively that it's not Jimi Hendrix on this footage then we will pay them $100,000."

She says, "I'm going to Israel to do a photoshoot on the Dead Sea for Ahava. The product is from the Dead Sea. I've never been to Israel but I've seen pictures of the Dead Sea. It looks like the moon but with a really big lake on it. "I've never been to the country so that's exciting because I'm a traveller.

"Ahava is a line of products containing the minerals that are found there in nature. They used to bag it up and sell the bags of the water.

"I'd had a pedicure at a spa with the foot cream and the minerals make it really rich and obviously our feet need some help after wearing high heels. It was amazing."

DICKINSON INSISTS ON GROWN-UP MODELS FOR REALITY SHOW
Former supermodel JANICE DICKINSON insists all the wannabe catwalk stars who aspire to compete for a contract on her reality show bring signed high school graduation certificates with them because she refuses to work with inexperienced kids.

The catty fashion queen insists she had too much of "bony-assed skinny" teenagers, like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, when she was a leading model, and refuses to work with kids again.

Dickinson says, "Kate Moss wasn't all that. She was this bonyassed skinny 14 year old when I met her. Naomi Campbell was a 12 year old little girl.

"I have a 14 year old myself and I would never turn her out in the modelling industry today.

"On The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency I make sure they give me their high school graduation certificate and then they can go on."

And she insists that her efforts might save the fashion industry another diva like Naomi Campbell.

She adds, "The model who has been in the most trouble has been Miss Naomi Campbell, with her anger issues. I was right there when her mother just turned her out when she was 12. You don't let a little girl out in the world at 12 and 13 because they simply don't know anything.

"It's the same thing with Kate Moss - always having problems with illicit devices; a pure case of being turned out in an industry far too soon.

"Tyra Banks and Cindy Crawford have made it because they graduated high school and they entered the field with a parent around them."

Director: Frank Miller
Cast: Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson
Synopsis: Adapted from the legendary comic strip, THE SPIRIT is a classic action-adventure-romance told by genre-twister FRANK MILLER (creator of 300 and SIN CITY). The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are ELLEN DOLAN (Sarah Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; SILKEN FLOSS (Scarlett Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; PLASTER OF PARIS (Paz Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; LORELEI (Jaime King), a phantom siren; and MORGENSTERN (Stana Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there's SAND SAREF (Eva Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

CRAWFORD: `I WAS A BORING SUPERMODEL'
CINDY CRAWFORD fears she missed out on fun when she first made it as a catwalk stunner - because she was too straight-laced and sensible.

Cindy Crawford at the 19th Annual GLADD Media Awards held at the Kodak Theatre. Hollywood, California USA - 26.04.08

The supermodel insists she's wilder now, as a married mum in her 40s, than she was when she became one of the biggest beauties on the planet in her 20s.

The former catwalk queen claims she was a geek during her teens and 20s, and missed out on the sex and drugs her model friends were indulging in.

Crawford says, "I regret that I wasn't wilder. I was working and I was nervous. I was the one in the corner with the book, being responsible."

But she's not quite as serious and studious as she once was: "I can be wild now. I'll sometimes dance on a table for my husband and his friends. But not naked, those days are gone."

Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized—the legendary Rex Racer—whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill.
Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret—some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won’t drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line.
