Organisers of last weekend's (25-27Apr08) Coachella Festival were forced to go litter picking through the streets and gardens of Indio, California on Tuesday (29Apr08) thanks to ROGER WATERS and BARACK OBAMA.
BARACK OBAMA
The former Pink Floyd rocker reportedly hired a plane to drop thousands of tiny flyers urging locals and festivalgoers to vote for U.S. presidential hopeful Obama before his festival-closing set on Sunday (27Apr08) night.
But the stunt caused headaches for people who woke up on Monday (28Apr08) to find their gardens strewn with paper.
Palm Desert police relayed all the complaints they received to festival bosses, who quickly gathered a litter team together and set about cleaning up Waters' mess.
MADONNA is on course to land her seventh number one album in America after her new release HARD CANDY scored first-day sales of 100,000 on Tuesday (29Apr08).
MADONNA

Barbra Streisand is the only female artist with more number ones - she has landed eight.
Madonna, Carey and Janet Jackson are all tied for the second most, with six apiece.
Madonna first hit the top of the U.S. album charts with Like a Virgin in 1984.
HELEN HUNT had to tackle the projectionist at the premiere of her new movie AND THEN SHE FOUND ME, because the picture was completely out of focus.
Helen Hunt on the set of 'Then She Found Me'
The actress screened her directorial debut for the first time at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada last September (07), and she confesses she was terrified as soon as she realised it would be watched by as many as 3,000 film fans.
She says, "We were on our way to the premiere, and I was really nervous. I didn't know what to expect because I hadn't brought my own film somewhere before.
"My boyfriend (Matthew Carnahan) had, so he said, 'It's probably 200-300 seats.' And the driver from Canada said, 'Sorry, it's 2,000-3,000 seats.' So I started to sweat."
And the evening went from bad to worse.
She adds, "I sat down in this big, beautiful theatre and the movie was out of focus. But I don't mean a little out of focus. I don't mean filmmaker, picky, out of focus. I mean when we ran upstairs and asked them to put it in focus the audience cheered."
Fortunately for Hunt, the night improved: "Then something happened and people started laughing and crying and standing and clapping and now it's in theatres so it was a very lucky night for me".
Death-defying illusionist DAVID BLAINE set a new world record on U.S. TV on Wednesday (30Apr08) when he held his breath underwater for 17 minutes and four seconds.
DAVID BLAINE
With Guinness Book of Records official Stuart Claxton in the audience for the feat on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Blaine climbed into a water-filled sphere to beat the record set by a Swiss man in February (08).
It wasn't the first time Blaine had attempted to set a breath-holding record - he had to be rescued by divers after seven minutes during a similar stunt in 2006, which came after he spent a week living underwater.
But this time Blaine trained with the world's best free divers and embarked on a rigorous air-deprivation and work-out programme to build his red blood cell count and train his body to cope with a lack of oxygen.
The illusionist, whose past stunts have included spending 63 hours in a block of ice and living in a glass box suspended over the River Thames in London for a week, came up for air after 17 minutes, shattering the existing 16 minutes and 32 seconds record by more than half a minute.
Smiling Blaine told Winfrey, "It was intense. I feel great."
His next death-defying feat will be to attempt to stay awake for longer than any other person - over 11 days: "That would be a million seconds, that's the goal."

Bollea asked the court in Pinellas County, Florida last year (07) to order Hogan to give her lawyers access to all his financial records.
But papers filed on 3 April (08) accuse the former wrestler of not fully disclosing all of the details of his salaries from his various TV appearances and endorsement deals.
Hogan and Bollea have two children together - daughter Brooke, 19, and Nick, for whom Bollea is claiming primary custody and child support.

Henry Poole (Luke Wilson) just wants to disappear. Shattered by circumstances beyond his control, he offers full price on a cookie cutter house in a drab, middle-class, L.A. neighborhood through his perky realtor Meg (Cheryl Hines). But just as he settles in to his indulgent isolation with a case of vodka and all the junk food he can eat, his neighbor, a well-meaning busybody named Esperanza (Adriana Barraza), drops by with a plate of homemade tamales and a whole lot of questions.
Despite his desire for solitude, Henry can’t help noticing Dawn (Radha Mitchell), the beautiful young divorcée next door and her daughter Millie (Morgan Lily), an eight-year-old amateur spy who hasn’t spoken a word since her parents’ break-up.
Henry’s self-imposed exile is shattered when Esperanza discovers a mysterious stain on Henry’s stucco wall that is seen to have miraculous powers. She begins leading pilgrimages to the “holy site” and invites church officials, including her pastor, Father Salizar (George Lopez), to inspect the apparition.
Although Henry remains skeptical, he finds himself gradually drawn back towards life, especially after his silent friendship with Millie brings him closer to Dawn. As news of the apparition spreads throughout the neighborhood and his feelings for Dawn grow, Henry realizes his plan to live out his days in quiet desperation is going to be much harder than he ever imagined.
Comedian ANTHONY ANDERSON is one of the few people in America who can enjoy marijuana legally - he is prescribed the drug to alleviate chronic joint pain.
ANTHONY ANDERSON
Anderson was stunned by the different shapes, sizes and varieties the drug comes in - and he insists it really works.
He says, "I went to the doctor for this chronic elbow problem and he told me he had some chronic medicine that he could prescribe to me that would alleviate the pain. So I went to this holistic doctor and basically got a prescription for wacky tabacky.
"You go to the pot store, or what they call a Wellness Centre. They have everything. They make a marijuana butter."
The mischievous star even shared his medicine with some TV co-stars, explaining, "I was on a show called K-Ville and they heard about my baking goods. So I baked brownies for the whole crew. That's probably why the show didn't come back (was cancelled)."
But Anderson admits he became a little too reliant on the legal buzz: "I had to renew my prescription and I thought I had to manufacture a new ailment to get it back I didn't know I could go back and say I've got chronic elbow pain. I told them I was seeing spots and they renewed it for me".
A judge in New York has dismissed a lawsuit against JENNIFER LOPEZ from a writer who accused the star of stealing his idea for a TV series.
JENNIFER LOPEZ
Jack Bunick filed suit at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan claiming 2006 drama series South Beach - which was executive produced by the star - was too similar to the plot of a pilot episode he wrote in 1999 for a programme called South Beach Miami.
Bunick named Lopez, United Paramount Network (UPN) and CBS Television in the suit.
But Judge Richard Berman tossed the lawsuit out of court on Wednesday (30Apr08) declaring there to be inadequate evidence to take the case to trial. The judge also noted that there was "powerful evidence" that the defendants had created the series independently.
Papers filed by Lopez's lawyers claimed that although the star was an executive producer, she was barely involved in the development and was only brought in at a later stage to "lend celebrity to the show."
The show was cancelled after just eight episodes following poor reviews and low viewing figures.
LATEST: FALL OUT BOY star PETE WENTZ has hit back at a lawsuit claiming he assaulted a fan after a gig - insisting his accuser is just trying to make 'a quick payoff'.
PETE WENTZ
Andy Kallas, from Chicago, Illinois, has launched legal action against the star, alleging he suffered "serious injuries to his head, mouth and face" during an unprovoked attack outside a club.
He is suing Wentz and Schuba's Tavern, where the beating allegedly took place after a recent Fall Out Boy show.
But Wentz insists the claims are not true, accusing Kallas of attempting to make money out of him.
He tells MTV.com, "This lawsuit is entirely without merit and will be vigorously defended.
"This is another in a long line of frivolous lawsuits that are filed against celebrities each year from individuals seeking a quick payoff when there is absolutely no justification for the claim."
Kallas is reported to have jeered at the band during the gig, but Wentz is adamant he would never lose his temper over something so trivial.
He adds, "We get heckled onstage all the time, and while I'm a jerk, I'm not the kind of person who would ever lash out at someone simply over this."
Fans of AVRIL LAVIGNE were left fuming on Wednesday evening (30Apr08) when they arrived at the singer's Cox Arena show in San Diego, California only to find the pop star had quietly cancelled the concert.
AVRIL LAVIGNE
The Sk8ter Boi hitmaker, whose U.S. tour has been plagued by poor ticket sales, called in sick earlier in the day with laryngitis, prompting promoters to cancel the gig.
But Lavigne's management and the promoters failed to let fans know, prompting thousands to make the journey to San Diego only to find the concert had been cancelled.
One angry mum told WENN, "Most of Avril's fans are young girls, who had to travel quite a distance to get to the show.
"With gas prices what they are, you would have thought that someone would have alerted the local media and radio stations, so that everyone knew the concert was cancelled."
The singer has posted a statement on her official website apologising to fans and declaring a rescheduled performance will be announced in due course.

BOYZONE
The group is due to kick off a series of live dates across the U.K. later this month, with the tour scheduled to begin in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 25 May (08).
But the shows could now be under threat after Duffy was struck down with blood poisoning, a potentially fatal condition which kills between 30 and 50 per cent of those affected.
The singer, 33, is reported to have contracted the illness after getting a new tattoo - he later collapsed and was rushed to hospital in his native Dublin.
He is currently being treated for severely swollen arms and legs, which bandmate Shane Lynch is referring to as, "Something like the Elephant Man."
A second nanny has launched legal action against ROB LOWE accusing his wife SHERYL of sexual harassment - just weeks after another childminder filed a similar suit against the actor.
ROB LOWE
Former childminder Jessica Gibson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Lowe last month (Apr08), alleging he touched her inappropriately on several occasions between September 2005 and January 2008.
Lowe has denied the claims and counters Jessica made up the allegations in an extortion scheme.
And now another nanny has filed papers against the West Wing star's wife.
Laura Boyce filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (30Apr08) accusing Sheryl of sexual harassment and wrongful termination, insisting she created an "extremely sexually offensive and hostile work environment ... behaving in a ... perverted, disgusting and crude manner."
Lowe's attorney Larry Stein has slammed the new allegations accusing Boyce's lawyer Gloria Allred - who also represents Gibson - of "dragging (Lowe's) wife and children into the fray."
He tells People.com, "Although framed as a sexual harassment claim against both Sheryl and Rob Lowe, the cross-complaint (from Boyce) alleges only words by Sheryl and never mentions any words or conduct by Rob whatsoever.
"The alleged statements by Sheryl are totally unrelated to, and do not provide any support for, Gibson's claims against Rob."
A deposition of the actor and his wife is set for 19 May (08) and 20 May (08), respectively, in the couple's hometown of Santa Barbara, California.
Welsh singer/songwriter SHAKIN' STEVENS wants to be more like KYLIE MINOGUE - as the Australian pop star has a talent for reinventing her image. The star, who has scored 34 top 40 hit singles in the U.K. alone throughout his career, is still going strong at 60 and was recently announced as one of the main acts to be playing at British music festival Glastonbury this summer (08).
And although Stevens admits, that like other artists, his image has changed over the years, he wishes he could have been more like Minogue.
He says, "Rod Stewart doesn't wear leotards any more, Elton John has taken off the platforms (shoes) and Tom Jones' trousers are a bit looser.
"I look different and sound different and now it would be nice to show people what I can do in a more contemporary way.
"Look at Kylie. She's changed and adapted but still kept her fans. That's what I want to do."
FALL OUT BOY star PETE WENTZ has been named in a suit filed by a Chicago, Illinois fan who claims he was beaten up by the rocker and his minders outside a club. Andy Kallas alleges he suffered "serious injuries to his head, mouth and face" during the unprovoked attack.
He is suing Wentz and Schuba's Tavern, where the beating allegedly took place after a recent Fall Out Boy show.
But sources tell TMZ.com Kallas was loudly heckling Wentz and his bandmates before the alleged incident.

Rapper LIL' KIM has had her luxury sportscar repossessed after she allegedly failed to keep up the repayments. The star - real name Kimberly Jones - recently received a visit from a repossession company who towed away her silver Bentley, valued at around $250-300,000 (GBP125,000-150,000) and the incident was captured on film by a New York TV crew.
Jones, who spent much of 2005 and 2006 in jail for a perjury conviction, was reportedly four to five months behind with the payments.
Representative for Commercial Service Corps, Cyro Mirando, confirmed the company had repossessed Jones' vehicle but admitted the star was unhappy to see the team arrive at her home.
He tells celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, "She didn't wanna cooperate. Basically, she told us to get off the property. We were hoping that she'd give us the keys, being that it'd be the right thing to do. It's not her vehicle."
Lil' Kim's publicist Tracy Nguyen insists the repossession is the result of a misunderstanding.
She says, "The car was a gift, given four years ago. This matter is currently being resolved and is completely out of Kim's hands."
