COLDPLAY's official website crashed on Tuesday (29Apr08) after it was inundated by fans looking to download their new single for free.
The British rockers gave music lovers the chance to sample their forthcoming track Violet Hill without paying a thing - posting the song online at midday.
But within minutes thousands of fans had logged on to get their hands on the group's first musical offering since 2006, forcing organisers to shut down the site due to technical problems.
A spokesman for the band says, "We are working on sorting out the problem."
Violet Hill is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming fourth album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends which is released on 12 June (08).
