CAGLE FACES TRIAL OVER ASSAULT CHARGES
Country star CHRIS CAGLE is to stand trial on a misdemeanour assault charge in connection with a pre-Christmas (07) fight.

The singer was allegedly caught up in a nightclub brawl in Tucson, Arizona on 13 December. The trial, which is expected to be completed within one day, will take place in Tucson city court in September (08). CMT.com reports Cagle is accused of punching Tucson native Mark Barry after Barry's girlfriend became verbally abusive when the singer refused to sign an autograph for her. At a hearing on Monday (21Apr08), Cagle's attorney insisted his client acted in self-defence. Barry has filed a civil suit against Cagle and his sound engineer, Kenneth Hoyt.
