THE SPECIALS REUNION IS UNCERTAIN

THE SPECIALS star NEVILLE STAPLE regrets reuniting the legendary Ska band has been a tough process - and there is still a chance the group will split before a tour.

The Ghost Town stars, who broke up at the height of their success in 1981, have reformed with the hope of embarking on a tour later this year (08).

But Staple admits the band are just "seeing how (rehearsals) go" and if they aren't able to meet the high musical standards they set themselves in the 1980s, they will give up on the idea of a reunion.

He says, "A couple of months ago we started talking. We had to talk first to see if we could get on, but we got past the talking stage. Then we said, 'Okay, let's see what we're like in a room together rehearsing with instruments.'

"We're just seeing how it goes. If it gels, it gels. If it doesn't, you don't wanna go out there as some old geriatrics - not me. What we've got to do is make sure the music at least is right.

"So if it works, we'll do it. If not, well. I'm sorry lads and girls. But we're trying."
