The organiser of legendary English music festival Glastonbury has denied reports ticket sales have been slow due to rapper SHAWN 'JAY-Z' CARTER headlining the event.
Last year's (07) festival sold out within hours of tickets going on sale, however this year (08), only 100,000 out of a possible 137,500 had been sold by Sunday (06Mar08) evening.
But organiser Michael Eavis insists adverse weather conditions in previous years could be to blame for the slow-selling tickets.
He says, "In previous years all tickets were sold out within a couple of hours but I think three years of mud may have taken their toll."
Jay-Z's appearance at the more traditionally rock-based Glastonbury was met with a mixed reception when his headline slot was announced last year (07).
But Eavis remained confident of more sales: "That's without them (ticket-buyers) even knowing who's playing - we haven't announced our full line-up yet. People will be astonished, astounded when they see who's playing."
Muse and The Verve are the other two headliners at the Somerset, England event, which takes place 27-29 June (08). The full line-up will be announced on 1 May (08).

Australian singer/songwriter ALEX LLOYD is facing legal action over his hit AMAZING - after a man has claimed he co-wrote the track.
Mark O'Keefe alleges he penned the song with the singer in a Sydney pub in 1989, when the star, then aged 14, agreed to register the track with the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA) in both their names.
Amazing went on to become the most played song on Australian radio in 2002, was named song of the year by APRA, and has made thousands of dollars in royalties through sales and advertising campaigns.
O'Keefe claims Lloyd kept the coasters on which Mr O'Keefe wrote the "lyrics and melody of the chorus", the opening line of the first verse and the opening line of the middle eight. Lloyd however insists he has never met O'Keefe.
The case, which was filed last month (Mar08), is set to continue later this year (08).

MIKE OLDFIELD was shocked when his seminal album TUBULAR BELLS was a hit - because it was turned down by the majority of record labels.
The composer insists he's still surprised the 1983 work was so popular, but credits Virgin label boss Sir Richard Branson for recognising his talent.
He says, "(I'm surprised) Tubular Bells (was) a hit. People thought it was a ludicrous idea, an album without vocals or drums. I became despondent; no record labels would take it on. Then I got the call from Richard Branson and it became a worldwide smash.
"It's the all-time number one in the instrumental album chart."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY's first wife LINDA was unaware her breast cancer was so advanced when she died, because the former BEATLE wanted her to enjoy the time she had left.
The photographer, singer and animal rights activist was diagnosed with the illness in 1995, and she underwent numerous sessions of chemotherapy in a bid to rid her body of the disease.
But when the treatment failed and Linda's hair started to grow back, McCartney decided not to burden his wife with the full seriousness of her ongoing cancer diagnosis, so she could live her life as she pleased.
Writing in British newspaper The Sunday Times, McCartney explains, "At the time she knew she was ill, but she'd had chemo and her hair was growing back.
"I'm not actually sure she ever knew she was dying. You have a decision to make as a family as to whether you tell someone and the doctors leave it to you, the immediate family.
"I talked it over with the doctor and he said, `I don't think she would want to know. She is such a strong, forward-thinking lady and such a positive girl that I don't think it would do any good.'"
Linda passed away on 17 April 1998, aged 56, at the family's ranch in Arizona.

Music mogul TRACEY EDMONDS has spoken out about reports she briefly dated 50 CENT after splitting from 'husband' EDDIE MURPHY in January (08).
Tracey Edmonds at "Movies Rock" 2007 at the Kodak Theater. Los Angeles, California - 02.12.07
Edmonds, who wed Murphy on New Year's Day (01Jan08) only to discover the nuptials weren't legally binding - leading to a dispute with the funnyman - insists there's no truth to rumours she romanced the In Da Club rapper after meeting him at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
The music executive was spotted with 50 Cent at the film festival, but she insists the two just happened to be in the same places.
Edmonds tells Sister2Sister magazine, "I went to Sundance because I go to Sundance every year for work. I was with all my girlfriends.
"I said hello to him (in a restaurant) and then we went upstairs because he performed after the dinner. So we had a table - me and my girlfriends - end of the story.
"Now there's a rumour that 50 and I are dating and that I spent the night alone with him that night."
Edmonds insists she's not quite ready to start dating again after splitting up with "the love of my life".
She adds, "All my girlfriends, my mom, my family knows I loved Eddie to death. This was the love of my life. Eddie knows that.
"I'm getting better, I'm getting stronger, I'm feeling more and more like myself each day."

Moviemaker MARTIN SCORSESE had to cover up one curse word with a drum beat - to make sure his new THE ROLLING STONES rockumentary received a PG-13 rating at the cinema.
Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Director Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood backstage during the filming of 'Shine a Light'
The Oscar winner knew he'd have to limit swearing to just two 'f' words or risk a harsher rating when the film was released in cinemas.
The band agreed to cut back on foul language, but when guest star Buddy Guy was introduced onstage as "Buddy motherf**king Guy" during a filmed show at the Beacon Theatre in New York, Scorsese knew the rockers had gone too far.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "We tried to plead the case (with censors) that it's part of what he's (Guy) called. We didn't win that one, so we put a drumbeat in there."
