LATEST: Hip-hop star 50 CENT has won his legal bid to evict his ex-girlfriend and their son from a Long Island, New York home he owns.

A judge has ruled that Shaniqua Tompkins and 10-year-old Marquise must leave the $1.5 million (GBP750,000) mansion, which is in the upmarket Long Island neighbourhood of Dix Hills, by the end of the school year.
The rapper said of the victory, "I'm a winner."
Tompkins filed legal papers in Manhattan on Wednesday (03Apr08) accusing 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - of breach of contract and unjust enrichment.

The former X Factor winner has become hugely successful since her meteoric rise to fame on the show in 2006 - shooting to the top of the U.S. charts last week (begs25Mar08) with her smash hit ballad Bleeding Love.
But even though the former receptionist is finding the pressures of stardom difficult, she brands her new lifestyle in the spotlight as "incredible".
She says, "I'm still trying to get my head around it (fame). I can't really grasp it.
"It's amazing. I'm just so thankful for this opportunity to come here and to be able to sing in different places all around the world. The reception's been amazing, people have been really great."

British singer NATASHA BEDINGFIELD has slammed the media and the public for their morbid fascination with the private lives of troubled stars such as AMY WINEHOUSE.

The These Words hitmaker, 26, believes the public has an unhealthy obsession with stars who use drugs because of the possibility these celebrities will self-destruct under the media spotlight.
And the star has vowed she will never appear in celebrity magazines intoxicated - claiming she is an avid anti-drugs campaigner after growing up surrounded by substance
abusers.
She says, "We've had a lot of artists taking drugs recently and people have been very excited by that. People have a certain nostalgia for the Jimi Hendrix days. And there is a circus mentality going on where people want to watch stars mess up their lives.
"They are drug addicts - it's not right to point the finger and laugh at someone who is not well. People can be vultures.
"I am so glad Amy got a Grammy, because it's so good to have that support. The reason I've never done drugs is that I grew up with a lot of drug addicts."

PISTOLS CONCERT FILM PLANNED
Punk icons the SEX PISTOLS are to release their first-ever concert movie.

Cameras caught the original Pistols line-up, Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, onstage and backstage at London's Brixton Academy last year (07).
The end result will feature in The Sex Pistols: There'll Always Be An England, which was directed by Julien Temple, who first filmed the group in 1976.
The DVD package will include a Temple-directed feature called The Knowledge, which features each band member revisiting the neighbourhood of his youth.

THE ROLLING STONES star KEITH RICHARDS only gave up cocaine after suffering a head injury when he famously fell out of a tree in Fiji in 2006.

The legendary guitarist was famed for his wild drug-taking exploits throughout the band's long career and admits he only gave up his drug of choice two years ago.
The 64-year-old hellraiser underwent cranial surgery after the accident and admits the injury meant he had to put an end to his cocaine habit for good.
He says, "I've found myself sleeping better since the bang on the head. I had to give up the bump (cocaine). How do you stay up for so many days?
"By the time that happened, it was really just once after meals anyway. Thank God I've got a reason to give it up!"

But medics insisted he seek professional treatment, as the gash was just inches from his wrist and could have been a serious injury.
He says, "I was lucky it wasn't lower. There was blood everywhere. (But) I'd never stop going to footie. I love it."

Frontman Roy Stride explains, "It's actually written into our record contract with Sony that Pete will be released from the deal if he gets offered the part of 007.
"He insisted on adding the Bond clause, but we all agreed that we wouldn't sign unless Sony adhered to it. They could no believe it. They started laughing when we told them and said to Pete that it was crazy as he would never be the next action star, but Pete was adamant it should be added."

The supermodel was released on bail after she was arrested at London's Heathrow airport following a dispute over her luggage, which was lost in the airport's recent Terminal 5 luggage fiasco.

According to airline bosses, the possibility of banning the 37-year-old from flying on British Airways planes is now under "active review", with a final decision expected after the company completes an internal investigation and after police decide on whether to prosecute her.

PEMBERTON FESTIVAL MAKES ADDITIONS WITH WOLF MOTHER AND KATHLEEN EDWARDS

The Pemberton Festival announced today that Grammy Award-winning Aussie rockers Wolfmother and Canadian singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards have been added to the Pemberton Festival bill.
Billboard describes them as "a young, kick-ass band with a dusty, unpolished garage sound that excels in what everyone else has already done." Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist/organist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett, Wolfmother released their self-titled debut EP through Modular Recordings in September 2004 for the purposes of booking shows. But so sterling were the results that they began appearing at several high profile music events in Australia and overseas. They eventually made their way to Los Angeles, working alongside producer Dave Sardy (Dandy Warhols, Jet, Oasis) to record their debut album, released in Australia in October 2005. Wolfmother debuted at # 3 on the charts, won the Album Of The Year award from national alternative radio network Triple J and was quickly certified platinum. Rolling Stone magazine listed Wolfmother as one of their "Top 10 Bands to Watch in 2006." Wolfmother was released internationally in April 2006, receiving positive reviews from the US and UK and was certified Gold in The United States in late November. At the 2007 Grammy Awards, Wolfmother won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song Woman, which was later released as a single in the UK.
Her unique blend of country, folk and pop sets 29-year-old Ottawa-born singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards apart. Her 2003 debut album Failer won immediate raves and led to her playing on Austin City Limits and opening for Willie Nelson, John Prine, Aimee Mann, My Morning Jacket, John Mayer and Bryan Adams. She was invited to perform at Farm Aid, played the Grand Old Opry, had a song in Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown and toured Australia and Europe. In 2005, Edwards released her second record, Back To Me, which also garnered considerable critical acclaim. 2006 saw Edwards nominated for Juno Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Back to Me. Three years after her debut album, Edwards has released her third studio album, Asking for Flowers, in March of this year.
Presented by Live Nation, the world's largest live music company, and Good Boy Productions, the Pemberton Festival's inaugural lineup includes big names such as Coldplay, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, The Tragically Hip, Interpol, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket and Flaming Lips, plus up and comers Vampire Weekend, Grand Ole Party and The Airborne Toxic Event. Recent additions to the bill include, N.E.R.D., Matisyahu, Minus the Bear, Inward Eye, along with Wolfmother and Kathleen Edwards.
