LINDSAY LOHAN narrowly dodged serious injury at the video shoot for N.E.R.D.'s new song - when she arrived on set after a bloody brawl had broken out.
Just hours before the actress, 21, and her DJ pal Samantha Ronson filmed their cameos for the Pharrell Williams-fronted group's new single Everybody Nose at New York City's Madison Club on Thursday (03April08), an altercation between hired extras erupted on set.
An onsite source tells gossip column PageSix, "They hired a few dozen club kids as extras for $50 (GBP25) apiece, and this fight erupted between two over a woman.
"One sliced the other's arm with a broken champagne glass, and blood was spurting from his artery. Kids were running and screaming from the room."
The victim was taken to the emergency room at St. Vincent's Hospital - while the culprit fled.
Another insider reports, "One of the extras was a convicted felon who is supposed to go back to jail in August. He slid in. They never would have used him, if they knew he was trouble."

British supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has been released on police bail after she was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
The catwalk star was arrested at London's Heathrow airport following a dispute over her luggage on Thursday (03Apr08).
According to reports, Campbell spat at an officer and was handcuffed as she left the British Airways aircraft, which had yet to take off from the airport's new Terminal 5 building.
Campbell's spokeswoman, Annabel Fox, says, "Naomi was flying to Los Angeles for a memorial service on Thursday April 3. She arrived at Heathrow Terminal 5 in plenty of time, checked her two bags in and was told they would make the flight.
"Once on the plane she was told one bag could not be found and was missing. BA decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly ejected her from the flight.
"She was taken to the Heathrow police station and released on police bail.
"So far as we are aware BA have still failed to offer any explanation as to why her bag went missing at Terminal 5."
The alleged incident comes a year after Campbell was ordered to complete a community service punishment for throwing a phone at her maid.

NICOLAS CAGE is 'extremely pleased' to have won a libel lawsuit against KATHLEEN TURNER after she accused the actor of drink-driving and theft in her new autobiography.
Cage began libel proceedings against his Peggy Sue Got Married co-star at London's High Court in February (08) after claiming Send Yourself Roses was full of false claims about him.
In the book - which was serialised in British newspaper The Daily Mail - Turner alleged Cage deliberately disobeyed his director uncle Francis Ford Coppola on the set of their 1986 movie, adding he also found himself in trouble with police while filming.
And the Romancing The Stone star was subsequently forced to apologise to Cage. The newspaper was ordered to make a substantial donation to charity, publish an apology and remove the offending article from its website.
Turner has also agreed to insert a correction and apology into copies of her book.
Cage's U.K. lawyer Simon Smith insists the star is delighted with the verdict.
He says, "(Cage is) extremely pleased, since he has never been arrested for drink-driving, dog theft or anything else.
"As an actor who stars in many family-friendly films and who has a young child and teenager of his own, Mr Cage was understandably upset at having been wrongly depicted as condoning that sort of reckless, dangerous and criminal behaviour."

Rapper LIL JON has invested in his own drinks company selling California-produced wine.
The Crunk Juice star - real name Jonathan Smith - started producing a small selection of beverages for parties but the drinks were so popular, he decided to launch the business properly.
The 36-year-old acknowledges he is no wine connoisseur but is confident his wine label will be a success.
He says, "We were just going to do some private label stuff (for parties) and we did it, and people was like, 'Hey, it's pretty nice.'
"I'm not no 'drink wine every day' kind of dude. I'm not like an expert, so don't ask me no questions ... I just like the taste.
"The wine is more nature: I wanted to not just have a direct connection, but make it just a little bit more upscale than regular Lil Jon. This is not no ghetto (alcoholic beverage) Boone's Farm; this is some real wine."
This is not the first time the star has explored the drinks market - Lil Jon launched Crunk!!! Energy Drink in 2005, named after the rap style he made famous.

PROCOL HARUM frontman GARY BROOKER has won back full royalty rights to hit song A WHITER SHADE OF PALE.
The singer won his appeal against a 2006 ruling, which gave organist Matthew Fisher a 40 per cent cut of the song's royalties at London's Court of Appeal on Friday (04Apr08).
Fisher had argued he had written the 1967 song's melody, and should be entitled to royalties as a result.
But Judge John Mummery ruled the rights will be retained by Brooker as Fisher took 38 years to bring the case to court - but insisted the track should still be credited with Fisher's co-authorship.
He said, "Matthew Fisher is guilty of excessive and inexcusable delay in his claim to assert joint title to a joint interest in the work.
"He silently stood by and acquiesced in the defendant's commercial exploitation of the work for 38 years."

Director: Martin Scorsese
Cast: Christina Aguilera, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Bill Clinton, Charlie Watts, Ron Wood
Synopsis: Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese and the world's greatest rock n' roll band, The Rolling Stones, unite to bring the audiences the most extraordinary musical film event of the year. That's the day Paramount Classics, in association with Concert Productions International and Shangri-La Entertainment, will release 'Shine A Light,' a look at The Rolling Stones, the band that defined the very idea of what a rock & roll is, live through the eyes of Martin Scorsese. Fortissimo Films is the international sales agent. It's hard to overestimate the importance of the Rolling Stones in rock & roll history. The group, which formed in London in 1962, distilled so much of the music that had come before it and has exerted a decisive influence on so much that has come after. Only a handful of musicians in any genre achieve that stature, and the Stones stand proudly among them. For 'Shine A Light,' which filmed over two days at the intimate Beacon Theater in New York City in fall 2006, Scorsese assembled a legendary team of cinematographers to capture the raw energy of the legendary band. The Director of Photography, Oscar® winner Robert Richardson ('The Aviator,' 'JFK'), supervised the camera team comprised of several highly acclaimed cinematographers, including Oscar® winner John Toll ('The Last Samurai,' 'Braveheart'), Oscar® winner Andrew Lesnie ('The Lord of The Rings' trilogy, 'King Kong'), Oscar® nominee Stuart Dryburgh ('The Piano,' 'The Painted Veil'), Oscar® nominee Robert Elswit ('Magnolia,' 'Good Night and Good Luck'), Oscar® nominee Emmanuel Lubezki ('Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events,' 'Sleepy Hollow') and Ellen Kuras ('Summer of Sam,' 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'). The film was edited by David Tedeschi, who most recently worked with Scorsese on the acclaimed Bob Dylan documentary 'No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.' Financed by Steve Bing's Shangri-La Entertainment and long-time Rolling Stones tour promoter Michael Cohl's Concert Productions International, the film was produced by Victoria Pearman, Michael Cohl, Zane Weiner and Steve Bing. The executive producers are Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood, with Jane Rose serving as co-executive producer.

Director MIKE LEIGH was forced to relax his rules of total secrecy on all his films when he made abortion drama VERA DRAKE as he felt compelled to inform star IMELDA STAUNTON of the sensitive subject matter.
IMELDA STAUNTON and MIKE LEIGH arrive at the aftershow party for The Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) held at Grosvenor House Hotel. London, England 12.02.05
The British moviemaker has a strict policy of never letting his castmembers know the overview of the film - preferring them to only know their character's role in the picture.
But Leigh was forced to relax his rules while making 2004 movie Vera Drake - the story of a backstreet abortionist in the 1950s - as he felt his leading lady Staunton needed to be comfortable with the theme before she agreed to get involved.
He tells British magazine Empire, "When I get together with actors on the first day, the know they won't be told what the film's about until the process is over. They will never know anything other than what their characters know.
"In the case of Vera Drake, I did tell Imelda Staunton that it was going to be about a backstreet abortionist, because I had to know she would be comfortable with that, just from a moral point of view.
"But most of the people in the film didn't have any idea that's what the film was about - certainly not the actors playing the members of her family. They didn't know until we rehearsed the scene where the police knocked on their door and arrested her."

"The whole point about her is she has this second chance at life. I looked at Gracie and the way she thinks opening a box of cornflakes is a wondrous event and just thought, 'I'll play it like I'm seeing life through her eyes.'"

Director: David Gordon Green
Cast: Amber Heard, James Franco, James Remar, Rosie Perez, Seth Rogen, Gary Cole
Synopsis: Next summer, the guys who brought you Superbad reunite for the action-comedy Pineapple Express. Lazy stoner Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (James Franco): to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and the city's most dangerous drug lord (Gary Cole), he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

U.S. band BEIRUT has cancelled its upcoming European summer (08) tour.
Beirut frontman Zach Condon has called off 14 shows - the first of which was scheduled to take place in Paris, France on 26 June (08) - because "it's come time to change some things".
Condon writes on Beirut's website: "It's with great regret that I have to tell all of you that Beirut is cancelling their summer European shows. My reasons for doing this are many, a lot of them personal...
"Everything that has happened has been beyond anything I'd ever hoped could happen with the music I wrote and recorded in my bedroom. Once things started happening, I decided I wanted to do everything as big as possible. So, I set about putting together a large band, and giving that band a huge sound, and making the most spectacular records we possibly could.
"I know this can sound like an artist s**thead kind of comment, but going through all that really does have its low points along with the highs...
"It's come time to change some things, reinvent some others, and come back at some point with a fresh perspective and batch of songs. Please accept my apologies."

Gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, CAN’T LOVE, CAN’T HURT, San Diego, CA based-quintet Augustana will embark on a 30-date headlining tour beginning May 7th in Seattle, WA.
Set for an April 29th release on Epic Records, CAN’T LOVE, CAN’T HURT was produced by Mike Flynn (The Fray) and follows up the band’s album, ALL THE STARS AND BOULEVARDS, which reached #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and spawned the RIAA certified Digital Platinum single, “Boston” On April 30th, Augustana will perform their new single “Sweet and Low” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
Augustana released “Sweet and Low” via an exclusive iTunes EP earlier this month. The EP, which debuted at #2 on the iTunes rock charts, features the songs “Hey Now” and “I Still Ain’t Over You” from the forthcoming album.
While ALL THE STARS AND BOULEVARDS brilliantly captured the loneliness and vulnerability of a touring rock band, CAN’T LOVE, CAN’T HURT illustrates the excitement of new love and ever-changing growth within a band. With its meticulously-crafted coming-of-age songs, CAN’T LOVE, CAN’T HURT solidifies Augustana as one of modern rock’s leading lights.
