PITT BEGS MUM NOT TO SEE VIOLENT NEW MOVIE

Actor MICHAEL PITT was so disturbed by his performance in ultra-violent new movie FUNNY GAMES he begged his mother not to see it.

The Village star plays one half of a psycho double act which abuses and torments a husband and wife, played by Tim Roth and Naomi Watts, and their child in a remote holiday cabin.

And Pitt admits even he struggles to watch his demented performance.

He says, "I didn't want my mom to see the movie. It would be really difficult for a mother to watch.

"It's a pretty hard movie to watch and I think I've put her through enough. I was in it and it still really affected me when I saw it. It's really good but it's really horrible."

I saw this movie last night on IFC. Michaels performance was mezmerizingly evil in that he was totally disconnected from reality. Yet the character had the features and personality of a kind of "white angel". To even try to comprehend that this kind of situation could actually happen, and that these young men are so feelingless is what makes the film potentially psychologically damaging. Michael Pitt can be extremely proud of his performance, and even prouder that he would try and shield his mother from experiencing him in that way. Good call.
