JAZZ LEGEND MACERO DIES
Legendary jazz producer TEO MACERO has died. He was 82.
The star, who worked extensively with Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Miles Davis, died in a New York hospital on Tuesday (19Feb08).
Macero was lauded for his innovation in the jazz world in the 1960s and 1970s, and is credited as a pioneer of the genre's studio releases.
He produced thousands of recordings during his career, including Simon and Garfunkel's The Graduate and numerous Broadway cast recordings.
Macero was also an accomplished saxophonist and composer.
His stepdaughter Suzie Lightbourn said Macero had been ill for some time, but the cause of death has not been disclosed.
