MELUA'S SHOPLIFTING CONFESSION

Pop singer KATIE MELUA has shocked fans by confessing she was a teenage shoplifter.

The Closet Thing To Crazy hitmaker fell in with a gang of pals who often stole items from shops and owned up to taking part in the criminal activity when she was just 13.

She says, "I used to have friends that used to nick (steal) things. I might have partaken a little."

The 23-year-old star went on to admit that clothes were the main focus of her thieving sprees but a representative for the singer later announced the worst thing she had taken was "lipgloss" and she "deeply regretted" her actions.
