ACTRESS BARCLAY DEAD AT 91
British actress MARY BARCLAY has died. She was 91.
Barclay passed away at a Guernsey nursing home on Tuesday (19Feb08); she had been living on the Channel Island since suffering a stroke in 2001.
The cause of death has yet to be released.
Born in 1917 in Somerset, England, Barclay got her first acting break in the 1948 drama Sins Of The Fathers, after emigrating to Canada with her film editor husband Richard Barclay.
She later went on to land roles in movies like 1970's The Revolutionary, starring as Jon Voight's mother; Sex And The Other Woman in 1972, and 1973's A Touch Of Class with George Segal and Glenda Jackson.
Barclay also branched out into theatre and experienced Broadway success in Agatha Christie's The Hollow In New York.
But she will be best remembered for her role as the domineering Stella Dane in U.K. TV soap Crossroads, in which she starred for 18 months in the 1960s.
