A history-making performance by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in North Korea will be broadcast live on television in the communist country.
The concert will take place in the capital city of Pyongyang next week (26Feb08), the first ever U.S. cultural visit to North Korea. It is hoped the historic trip will help to improve relations between the two countries
And North Koreans will be able to watch the event on TV, thought to be unprecedented in the secretive nation.
Orchestra president Zarin Mehta says, "We're very pleased that they've finally confirmed it. The fact that lots of people are going to hear our concert and see what American culture is all about is the main reason that we as an organisation were interested in pursuing it."
