BRANDY'S MUM ACCUSES KARDASHIAN FAMILY OF CREDIT CARD FRAUD

The mother of R+B star BRANDY has accused socialite KIM KARDASHIAN of committing credit card fraud.

Sonja Norwood filed a lawsuit in L.A. County Superior Court on Monday (04Feb08) against the star, after Kardashian allegedly abused the use of a credit card given to her to make "one (and only one)" purchase on behalf of Norwood.

However, Kardashian is accused of giving the American Express card to other members of her family, Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr. The three are alleged to have run up debts of $120,635 (GBP60,317) on the card in 2006 and 2007.

The suit also claims thousands of dollars from the unauthorised payments were charged in the family's Dash and Smooch stores, reports TMZ.com.

The Kardashian family have yet to comment on the case.

In a candid new interview with America's Parade magazine, the Nasty singer explains, "After two divorces, I thought I was jinxed: 'Maybe marriage isn't for me? Maybe it's my fault it never works.'

"I was always faithful. I always tried to give of myself. I was very loyal. But maybe I'm the problem. I'm to blame."

And she insists her reluctance to wed again is an effort to avoid another crushing heartbreak.

She adds, "It was awful, and I was so tired of being hurt."

Meanwhile, the mogul also hints he has a new woman in his life, after splitting from longterm love Kim Porter - by confessing his new designs have a woman's touch.

14 MINUTE CALLS MADE CHRISTMAS LIKE A 24 EPISODE FOR SUTHERLAND

DONALD SUTHERLAND felt like he was in son KIEFER's fast-paced action drama 24 when the actor was in jail over Christmas (07) because he had just 14 minutes to chat to him every three days.

Kiefer Sutherland recently served a 48-day sentence at Glendale City Jail in California for drink-driving, and could only talk to his worried dad briefly by phone every third day.

The Don't Look Now star admits his son's jail spell really killed the fun of Christmas for the whole family.

He says, "I spoke to him on every third day. I'd make a deposit at the jail and then when he has the chance he can call collect and you speak for 14 minutes, that's your limit and then the phone goes dead.

"I got to tell you 14 minutes is just gone. I never knew when the phonecall would come and it would be this recording of some woman in the police system and you'd blurt out everything in 14 minutes."

The elder Sutherland admits he proud of all his kids, but he hopes Kiefer's jail spell gave the actor a chance to think about his wild ways.

He adds, "He's not a mellow guy... but he's a growing man and he had 48 days to think. He was in solitary confinement in Glendale jail."

CLOONEY VOWS TO FIGHT ON DESPITE U.N. SNUB

GEORGE CLOONEY was left with a bruised ego when he paid a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York on Thursday (31Jan08) - because some delegates refused to let him speak.

The new U.N. Messenger of Peace was hoping convince the nations that contribute troops to the 17 official peacekeeping missions to offer further help and assistance to refugees in Darfur.

But delegates from Russia and France decided they didn't need a movie star to tell them what to do and they refused to let him speak publicly.

After his visit, Clooney joked, "There are groups that don't feel that I necessarily class up the joint and don't feel that I should be speaking to them."

The actor/director's visit came just two days after he returned from a two-week fact-finding trip to Darfur with the U.N. assistant secretary general of peacekeeping operations.

He insists he isn't going to let delegates and politicians simply ignore him - because he has too much to say about the problems he has seen in Africa.

He adds, "I think what moves me the most about this entire trip was the fact that I was in Chad two years ago, and it's worse now there than when I was there. And that Sudan isn't particularly better now."

During Clooney's U.N. visit on Thursday, rebels were fighting Chad's official military for control of the African nation's capital.

BANA BROKEN UP OVER LEDGER TRAGEDY

TROY star ERIC BANA has been left stunned by fellow Aussie HEATH LEDGER's death - because the tragedy has made him consider his own mortality.

The actor admits he only met Ledger briefly, when their films Munich and Brokeback Mountain were competing for Oscars at the same time, but he had a deep respect for the Casanova star.

And now, two weeks after Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment, Bana has found the words to express his feelings about the tragedy, and what it has meant to him.

The Hulk actor says, "It was extremely tragic and it took a few days for it to sink in. I think the most distressing thing to me was looking back and thinking how significant each 10 years is as a person.

"As a man and a father, I look at the age of 28 to 38 as being an incredible period to go through and he (Ledger) was robbed of that.

"From my own personal experience, I just thought how unbelievably tragic it is. It's shocking."

MACY ATTACKS SICK, OBSCENE U.S. CENSORS

WILLIAM H. MACY has urged U.S. censors to seek therapy because he's sick of ultra-violent films beating sex scenes for favourable ratings.

The Boogie Nights star accuses "Puritan and Calvinistic" film bosses of "running rampart" and allowing teenagers to see the wrong things on the big screen.

He explains, "You can disembowel a young woman, but you can't show her breasts and I think that's obscene.

"I think sex is good, it's very good; even when it's bad it's pretty good. And violence is bad and it's always bad.

"It's disgusting that you can let a 15-year-old watch that blood and guts but you can't watch two people making love. That's sick. I think some of the people who decide the ratings really need to get into therapy."

And Macy reveals he witnessed the ratings board gone crazy while he was making Boogie Nights in 1997.

He recalls, "In Boogie Nights, I walk in on Nina Hartley, who played my wife..., and she's astride this guy doing the one thing (making love).

"I say, 'What's going on...?' and she says, 'Close the door Bill, you're embarrassing me.'

"And the ratings board said, 'You can't have that shot. Nina can talk or she can hump, but she can't talk and hump at the same time.'"

RITTER'S WIDOW DENIES GREED SPECULATION

JOHN RITTER's widow has denied accusations her $67 million (GBP33.5 million) wrongful death lawsuit against two doctors she accuses of mishandling the actor on the night he died is motivated by greed.

Amy Yasbeck claims her husband would still be alive if staff had taken a simple X-ray when Ritter checked into hospital, complaining of chest pains in 2003.

Doctors eventually realised the actor had a tear in a blood vessel, but it was too late and the 54-year-old suffered a fatal heart attack.

Yasbeck, who has already won $14 million (GBP7 million) in settlements - including $9 million (GBP4.5 million) from Los Angeles' Providence St. Joseph Medical Center - insists her lawsuit is about seeking accountability for Ritter's death.

She also hopes her ongoing efforts will help educate others about the condition that killed her husband.

She says, "I'm asking for responsibility to be taken and recognition to be brought to this problem."

The misdiagnosis trial is due to start on 11 February (08). The two doctors named in the lawsuit deny any wrongdoing.

PIMP C'S DEATH RULED ACCIDENTAL

LATEST: Officials at the Los Angeles County Coroner's office have ruled rapper PIMP C's December (07) death was an accident.

The UGK star, real name Chad Butler, died in his sleep in a Los Angeles hotel on 13 December (07). He was 33.

Forensics experts concluded their investigation into his death on Monday (04Feb08), declaring Pimp C died as a result of a preexisting condition he had of sleep apnoea, combined with an accidental overdose of prescription codeine, according to TMZ.com.

GIANTS + PATRIOTS SCORE SUPER BOWL RECORD

Sunday's (03Feb08) big American football match-up between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots was the most-watched Super Bowl ever - 97.5 million viewers tuned in to watch underdogs the Giants beat the favourites.

The telecast beat viewing figures for the 1996 final, in which the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But the 2008 Super Bowl failed to become the biggest American television broadcast ever by almost nine million viewers - that record belongs to the series finale of M*A*S*H, which was seen by 106 million viewers in 1983.

VINCENT CROWNED BLUEGRASS QUEEN AGAIN

Country music icon RHONDA VINCENT claimed her eighth successive Top Entertainer honour at the annual Bluegrass Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday (03Feb08).

Vincent and her band The Rage swept the awards show - the singer also claimed the night's Contemporary Female Vocalist of The Year, while her group took home Best Vocal Group honour.

Vincent's bandmates also swept up the Best Banjo Player, Bass Player and Fiddle Player trophies.

The only other multiple-winning act of the night was the Grascals, who scored Instrumental Group and Best Bluegrass Band prizes, while band member Danny Roberts was named Best Mandolin Player.

Synopsis: “Great World of Sound” follows Martin (Pat Healy), as he applies for a job at a company training prospective “music producers”. During training he pairs up with another new employee, Clarence (Kene Holliday), a middle aged man trying to change his career path. As record producers, the two travel to towns where the company has placed newspaper ads to find undiscovered musicians. They are seeking talent for the record label- signing new artists and giving them a chance to let their music be heard… for a small fee. It’s going great at first, but soon Martin and Clarence begin to question whether the company is as virtuous as it promises to be in it’s promise to give people their dream.This film evokes the image of the traveling salesman- a talent salesman- to address the increasing trend of people looking for a shortcut to fame. The film also examines the people who promise such an easy path- commenting that a “scam artist” rarely believes they are one, and that often the scam artist is being scammed himself.
