HOLLYWOOD STARS SNUB BAFTAS

A host of stars have vowed to snub the forthcoming BAFTA awards in London - despite hopes the event would flourish due to the ongoing Hollywood writers' strike.

It was hoped next weekend's event would attract a host of A-list actors due to several major award ceremonies in the U.S. - including the Golden Globes - being scrapped after the Writers Guild of America threatened to erect picket lines outside.

But George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Tommy Lee Jones, Julie Christie, Laura Linney and Ellen Page - who are all up for Best Actor/Actress Oscars this year (08) - have informed organisers they are unable to attend the ceremony.

However, Oscar-nominees confirmed to attend include Joel and Ethan Coen, Daniel Day-Lewis and Atonement stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

The BAFTAs will take place on 10 February (08) at London's Royal Albert Hall.

JACKSON'S KIDS UNVEILED

The children of pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON have been pictured for the first time minus their usual veil disguises.

Ten-year-old Prince Michael I, and nine-year-old Paris - the singer's children with former wife Debbie Rowe - were spotted dressed in trainers and baseball caps on a visit to a show by ventriloquist Ronn Lucas in Las Vegas last week (ends03Feb08).

The Thriller hitmaker's youngest offspring, Prince Michael II, 5, however, was concealed by one of Jackson's staff; much like his father, who hid from photographers beneath a hood and large sunglasses.

The 49-year-old singer is believed to hide his children's faces for fear of potential kidnappings if their identities are made known.

Jackson and Rowe were divorced in 1999, with Rowe handing over full custody rights to her two sons. Prince Michael II was born to an unidentified surrogate mother in 2002.

JACKSON EYES COLLABORATION WITH ACCLAIMED PAINTER

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON is hoping to add art mogul to his resume - after pursuing an up-and-coming American painter for his wares.

The Thriller singer is currently in talks with acclaimed New York artist Kehinde Wiley, whose buyers include Denzel Washington and Sir Elton John.

But Wiley - who is famed for his portraits of urban black men in classic Renaissance scenes - thought the planned hook-up was initially a hoax.

He says, "Michael Jackson is calling me. We're discussing exactly what it will involve. He saw my work at the Brooklyn Museum and was taken with it, so he had his people contact me.

"I thought it was a joke at first, so I ignored it for the longest time. Then he contacted a friend of mine who's an actor, so I knew it was for real."

BASSHUNTER DOMINATES U.K SINGLES CHART FOR FOURTH WEEK

BASSHUNTER's dance tune NOW YOU'RE GONE has continued its reign at the top of the U.K. singles charts - triumphing with a fourth week at number one.

Hotly-tipped British newcomer Adele and U.S. rockers Nickelback hold on to the numbers two and three, with singles Chasing Pavements and Rockstar respectively.

In the album charts, Adele's debut 19 knocks Scouting For Girls' eponymous release to number two. Nickelback are at number three with All The Right Reasons.

Robert Plant's collaboration with Alison Krauss, Raising Sand, is at number four, while Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine chart at number five with new release Scream Aim Fire.

NO LOVE FOR SANZ OVER VENEZUELA VALENTINE SHOW

Spanish singer ALEJANDRO SANZ faces a second Venezuelan ban after government officials confirmed they're trying to cancel a rescheduled concert there later this month (Feb08).

Sanz was slated to perform in Caracas in November (07) but that show was scrapped over comments he made against Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

The Spaniard has regularly expressed his dislike of the President, and once stated he'd only perform in Venezuela when Chavez's term in office had ended.

But the singer reconsidered his stance when fans begged him to perform.

However that concert was scrapped due to government opposition and now it looks as if the rescheduled show could be cancelled too.

Members of the Caracas Mayor's office want to prohibit the 14 February (08) concert.

Mayor's spokesperson Evelio Arrieta tells PeopleenEspanol.com, "I think Sanz should be brave and recognise what he said about not giving a concert until Hugo Chavez is out of power."

MILEY'S MOVIE EXTENDED IN U.S. THEATRES AFTER BIG DEBUT

MILEY CYRUS' 3D concert movie will play in U.S. cinemas for a second week after the film shot to the top of the box office with a $29 million (GBP14.5 million) opening weekend take.

The film, Hannah Montana + Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, was only supposed to play selected theatres for a week, but ticket demand has forced Disney bosses to extend the project's big-screen run.

The new movie becomes the biggest opener during a Super Bowl weekend and breaks records by topping the box office charts while playing at so few theatres - it opened on Friday (01Feb08) in just over 2,000 cinemas, picking up an average of over $42,000 (GBP21,000) a venue.

Jessica Alba's horror film The Eye opened in second place with $13 million (GBP6.5 million), and Katherine Heigl's wedding comedy 27 Dresses debuted at three with $8.4 million (GBP4.2 million).

Eva Longoria's new comedy Over Her Dead Body was the weekend's biggest flop, missing out on the box office top 10 with a poor $4.6 million (GBP2.3 million) debut.

TV SHOW TURNS BROWN + SNIDER AGAINST EACH OTHER

R+B star BOBBY BROWN and rocker DEE SNIDER have caused friction on the set of celebrity reality show GONE COUNTRY - because they don't get along.

The odd couple are roommates on the Big Brother-style country music show, and there's no love lost between them.

Brown reveals, "I'm an alpha male and he thinks he's one... We roommate together and that's just sick."

The My Prerogative hitmaker admits Twisted Sister frontman Snider is most annoying at bedtime: "Dee Snider needs his coffee plus he wants to sleep; how do you drink coffee and go straight to sleep?"

MORRISON'S DOOR DISAPPEARS FROM EBAY.COM

The decorated bathroom door from JIM MORRISON's childhood home has been removed from auction website eBay.com a day after going under the hammer.

The Love Her Madly door, painted by artist Doug Wright, was displayed at a Music of The Doors philharmonic concert in Buffalo, New York on Saturday (02Feb08) - and then put up for auction to raise cash for local charities.

But the item was mysteriously absent from eBay on Sunday (03Feb08).

The door was taken from the former Clearwater, Florida home of The Doors star Morrison's grandparents, and featured a novelty doorbell that played snippets from the group's hit Love Her Madly.

It's the fourth door from the home Wright has turned into a canvas for his art.

The winning bidder was offered the chance to own a commemorative book with a notarised certificate of authentication for the door and a DVD documenting the dismantling of the house it came from.

Upon sipping the drink, Guillermo developed super-human strength and beat the rapper.

EASTWOOD HONOURS JOLIE AT FILM FESTIVAL

STALLONE UPSET OVER POTENTIAL BURMA FILM BAN

SYLVESTER STALLONE has threatened to expose Burma's killing fields if country officials ban his new movie RAMBO there.

The action man shot the movie in the jungles of Myanmar - formerly Burma - and is upset the violent film might not reach fans following an official crackdown on the distribution of pirated copies of Rambo.

The Burmese authorities are said to be upset with the plot of the film, in which Stallone's character tackles the country's military in a mission to free a group of captured Christian aid workers.

The angry actor/director fumes, "If the Burmese government has nothing to hide, I am wiling to go there and show the world where thousands of bodies of innocent women and children are buried.

"Let the generals look me in the eye and tell me they have a free country. It will never happen."
