LEWIS TEAMS UP WITH AKON

British singer LEONA LEWIS has teamed up with R+B star AKON to revamp her album for the American market.

The 22-year-old became music mogul Simon Cowell's latest protegee after winning U.K. TV talent show The X Factor.

And after seeing her debut LP Spirit top the chart in her native Britain - becoming the biggest selling record of 2007 - the star has her sights set on the U.S. with a release scheduled for 8 April (08).

But the record has been given a new sound courtesy of the Smack That hitmaker, according to MTV.co.uk.

The pair have recorded a new track, written and produced by Akon, titled Forgive Me, in a bid to make her material more appealing to an American audience.
