MINOGUE SICK OF TALKING ABOUT CANCER

Australian pop star KYLIE MINOGUE is pleading with people to stop quizzing her about her battle with breast cancer - because she's sick of discussing the gloomy topic.

The Spinning Around hitmaker was diagnosed with the deadly disease in 2005 and is currently in remission.

But the singer insists she doesn't want to be seen as an expert on illness as she is no position to offer people advice.

She says, "I don't have a nice little phrase to summarise what that meant, or what it did, or how I've changed. I don't want to talk about it too much.

"I have some understanding of what other people might go through, but I don't have the answers. I am sure the day will come where I will be more forward about it. If I was one-on-one with a patient, I would share everything."

TUNSTALL: 'THE SPICE GIRLS DON'T MIME'

Scottish singer KT TUNSTALL has rubbished reports the SPICE GIRLS are lip-synching on stage during their recent reunion tour.

The 32-year-old musician is a big fan of the pop five-piece and is determined to quash rumours the Wannabe hitmakers mime their songs.

She writes on her Internet page: "The lovely Sporty Spice (Melanie Chisholm) asked if I'd like to go to one of their shows, and of course I said, 'Too right I do.'

"Sorry to disappoint any dissenters out there, but it was ace! It looked great and was such a laugh. The mics were definitely on people and the ladies were in tune. Fact.

"Scary (Melanie Brown) said one of the filthiest things on stage I've ever head. The girl is on fire."

But the Suddenly I See hitmaker insists there is a disadvantage to being invited to a sold-out Spice show: "I went half bloody deaf from the screaming - I had to get my left ear checked out for tinnitus. Rrrrawk and roll, eh?"

MIKA DENIES MADONNA SNUB

British pop star MIKA is baffled by claims he turned down the chance to collaborate with MADONNA on her new album.

The Grace Kelly hitmaker was reported to have refused an offer from Madonna to work on her forthcoming LP - but he's adamant the rumours are not true as she's never approached him about a collaboration.

However, the Lebanese-born singer would definitely consider working with the Like A Virgin star if she ever asked him.

He says, "I'm not working with her (Madonna). Believe me, if I got asked to work with her, I certainly wouldn't turn it down. Of all the women I'm fascinated by, she's certainly up there."

DOHERTY CANCELS SOLO GIG

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has pulled out of a solo gig in the U.K. just 24 hours before it was due to take place.

The Babyshambles frontman is currently working on his first solo album - and was scheduled to perform at the Fez club in Reading, Berkshire, to test out some of his new material.

But the venue has been forced to cancel the event, which was scheduled for Wednesday (30Jan08), and apologise to fans after Doherty reportedly decided to scrap the gig at the last minute.

A posting on the Fez website reads, "Due to factors out of our control, we unfortunately have had to cancel this event. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Doherty - whose drug habit forced him to leave former band The Libertines in 2004 - has yet to decide on a title for the forthcoming record, which is due for completion later this year (08).

JENNER DENIES DATING LOHAN

LATEST: U.S. reality TV star BRODY JENNER has slammed reports he is dating LINDSAY LOHAN - insisting he already has a girlfriend.

The Hills star, who was once linked to Paris Hilton, was spotted enjoying a night out with the Mean Girls actress in New York on Friday (25Jan08), which led to speculation the pair were romantically involved.

But Jenner, 24, is determined to dispel the rumours - and make public his love for his girlfriend, 22-year-old model Cora Skinner.

He tells New York Daily News, "We were hanging out as friends and nothing happened. We weren't 'all over' each other, and we definitely weren't making out. I am dating and really happy with Cora."

STRIKING WRITERS CAN WORK ON GRAMMYS

Hollywood's striking writers have been given the green light to work on next month's (Feb08) Grammy Awards ceremony.

Last week (ends25Jan08), Writer's Guild Of America (WGA) union bosses announced they did not plan to ask members to protest outside the event.

But on Monday (28Jan08), the WGA said its members had signed an "interim agreement" to work on the 10 February (08) event.

A WGA statement read: "Professional musicians face many of the same issues that we do concerning fair compensation for the use of their work in new media."

The statement adds that it made the decision "in the interest of advancing our goal of achieving a fair contract."

Acts such as Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, 50 Cent and Jon Bon Jovi had threatened to boycott the ceremony in support of the Hollywood writers' strikes.

Grammy organisers The Recording Academy says it was "gratified" to reach the deal.

Neil Portnow, Recording Academy president and chief executive says, "Having our talented writers on the team further ensures the highest level of creativity and innovation."

WGA bosses have only granted waivers for the NAACP Image Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.

Both the Golden Globes and People's Choice Awards were downsized earlier this month (Jan08) as a result of the three-month-long strike action.

FOXY REFUSED HEARING TREATMENT

LATEST: Incarcerated FOXY BROWN's request to leave prison to visit a specialist doctor to save her hearing has been rejected by a judge in New York.

The rapper - real name Inga Marchand - is currently serving a year in prison for violating her probation after a string of altercations.

Marchand returned to court last week (17Jan08) to seek permission to travel to California for an ear examination and for repair of an electronic ear implant.

But during a court hearing on Thursday (28Jan08) State Supreme Court Justice Melissa Jackson ruled Brown will not be granted leave to go to Los Angeles' House Clinic.

The 29-year-old's petition to the court stated her condition was worsening in jail and that she faced serious harm to her hearing unless she had specialist medical care.

But prosecutors say the star can get the treatment she needs in New York.

The Back to Black hitmaker's father, Mitch, says Winehouse's love of the late actress is helping her through her daily battle with drugs.

He says, "Amy is very ill and is suffering horrific withdrawal symptoms - shivering and constantly throwing up. Her body is expelling all the rubbish.

"One thing helping Amy is her Marilyn Monroe films. Amy loves Some Like It Hot. She's a huge fan of Monroe and thinks she's wonderful."

The 24-year-old checked into a London rehab facility last week (24Jan08) - just six days after video footage surfaced of her apparently smoking crack in a shocking drugs binge.

U2 MANAGER CALLS FOR END OF ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS

U2's manager is spearheading a campaign to end illegal music downloads from the Internet.

Paul McGuinnes - who has guided the Irish rockers to 150 million album sales over the last 30 years - has called on Internet service providers (ISP) to immediately introduce disconnection policies in a bid to deter illegal downloads.

McGuinnes is also urging the government to prosecute companies if they fail to prevent illegal file-sharing.

He says, "If you were a magazine advertising stolen cars, handling the money for stolen cars and seeing to the delivery of stolen cars, the police would soon be at your door.

"That's no different to an ISP, but they say they can't do anything about it. If you steal a laptop from a store or don't pay for your broadband service, you'll soon be cut off and nicked (arrested)."

WILLIAMS PUTS WORK ON HOLD TO GRIEVE FOR LEDGER

Actress MICHELLE WILLIAMS has put work commitments on hold indefinitely while she grieves for her former fiancee HEATH LEDGER.

The 27-year-old was filming the last scenes of new movie Mammoth in Sweden when she heard of her former lover's death last week (ends25Jan08).

The former Dawson's Creek star immediately flew to New York with the couple's two-year-old daughter Matilda where she is expected to stay with family and friends.

But the trip has prompted the filmmakers behind her next project Blue Valentine - also starring Ryan Gosling - to put the film on hold.

A source tells People.com, "We will hold off until she is ready. The production is in the process of sorting it out in respect to her.

"We're hoping she will still come back and do the film and are happy to wait.

"The film is tailor made for those two so of course we would want to wait. You can't get much better than them."

Williams and Ledger began dating after meeting on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2005. The couple split in September (07).

And now sister news shows The Insider and Entertainment Tonight have picked up the rights to the footage Stewart has been shooting for months.

Stewart is convinced the film will be a must-see for others struggling with cancer: "I think it will really help others."
