ROWLAND EYES MYLO AND CALVIN HARRIS COLLABORATION

Former DESTINY'S CHILD star KELLY ROWLAND hopes to transform herself into a dance diva with the help of Scottish DJs MYLO and CALVIN HARRIS.

The singer is desperate to shed her R+B image and is currently visiting London's top nightclubs in a bid to change her sound.

And the 26-year-old is keen to seek help from two of Scotland's top producers.

She says, 'I'm keen to find out more about Calvin Harris and Mylo. I've heard very good things about them.

"I'd be totally up for seeing what they could do with my music."

JACKSON PROMISES STAR-STUDDED ALBUM

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON has vowed to 'surprise' his loyal fans with a host of celebrity collaborations on the remake of his hit album THRILLER.

The singer will release a 25th anniversary edition of the 1982 LP later this year (08).

And Jackson has promised a number of big names will feature on the release.

He says, "I'm coming back. And I've got a very special treat for all of my fans.

UB40 SLAM CAMPBELL OVER DEPARTURE

LATEST: The remaining members of UB40 have slammed singer ALI CAMPBELL for the way he announced his departure from the band.

Campbell revealed last week (ends25Jan08) he intends to end his 28-year spell with the Rat In The Kitchen hitmakers after "management difficulties".

But drummer James Brown says he is disappointed Campbell didn't attempt to resolve the issues with his fellow bandmates and also criticised him for using a solicitor to announce his departure.

He says, "You would think that after 30 years of working together as a family unit that you could at least talk through these issues."

Campbell will remain with UB40 until the reggae group complete an upcoming February (08) tour of Australia, New Zealand and Uganda.

BASSHUNTER CONTINUES TO REIGN THE U.K. CHARTS

Scouting for Girls enjoy a second week topping the album chart, while Led Zeppelin star Robert Plant's collaboration with Alison Krauss, Raising Sand, moved up two places to the second slot.

Amy MacDonald's debut album is at number three and Newton Faulkner's Hand Built By Robots took fourth place. The Hoosiers album The Trick To Life moved up three to take fifth place.

COEN BROTHERS + THE SOPRANOS DOMINATE SAG AWARDS

The COEN brothers' NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and hit TV show THE SOPRANOS have swept the board at this year's 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

Actor Tom Cruise presented the cast of No Country for Old Men with the Outstanding Cast In A Motion Picture Trophy during the ceremony on Sunday night (27Jan08).

Javier Bardem picked up the award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role for his chilling role as a killer in the picture.

Meanwhile, hit TV show The Sopranos scooped three awards including Best Actress (Edie Falco) and Best Actor (James Gandolfini). It also took the gong for best cast in a drama series.

British actor Daniel Day-Lewis dedicated his award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in There Will Be Blood to late actor Heath Ledger - just days after making a moving tribute to the Brokeback Mountain star on Oprah Winfrey's talk show.

British actress Julie Christie was praised for her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in Away from Her and Ruby Dee beat Cate Blanchett to take the award in the supporting actress category for her role in American Gangster.

The ceremony was unaffected by the ongoing Hollywood writers' strike - unlike the Golden Globes or the Academy Awards - because SAG has agreed with the Writers Guild of America to have one of the union's members write the script for the show.

NEWSPAPER CLAIMS OLSEN THREATS

MARY-KATE OLSEN's lawyers have been accused of 'threatening' a newspaper editor who called for her to be quizzed by police over HEATH LEDGER's death.

The New York Police Department has decided not to question the 21-year-old, despite claims the masseuse who discovered Ledger's body called the actress in California a number of times before contacting emergency services.

Olsen reportedly arranged for security guards at her nearby apartment to race to the scene - nine minutes before an ambulance was called.

New York Post editor-in-chief Col Allan claims Olsen's lawyers contacted him as soon as the newspaper linked the actress with Ledger's death - and speculates they may have put pressure on the NYPD to eliminate the actress from their enquiries.

He says, "Almost immediately after the tragic passing of Mr. Ledger, Ms. Olsen's attorneys began emailing us threatening messages. We find it strange if Ms. Olsen was not questioned at all.

"The New York Post will not be pressured, and we find it off that the chiefs at the NYPD appear to be terrified of 4-foot-11 inch, 90-pound Mary-Kate-Olsen."

PLANT HINTS AT FULL LED ZEPPELIN TOUR

Rocker ROBERT PLANT has further fuelled speculation LED ZEPPELIN will launch a full reunion tour this year (08) - by replying 'you never know' when asked if the road show is going ahead.

The Stairway To Heaven singer and bandmates Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham played a one-off gig at a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London last month (Dec08), and stories about a full tour have been rampant ever since.

Last week (ends25Jan08), fansite Royal-Orleans.com reported guitarist Jimmy Page will hold a meeting with the media at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjyuku on Monday (28Jan08).

And, on Friday (25Jan08), after being asked at a New York basketball game if Led Zeppelin will tour, Plant cryptically replied, "You never know what is around the corner."

CURRINGTON READY TO RETURN AFTER DEALING WITH ABUSE

Country star BILLY CURRINGTON is returning to the music scene after spending the last six months in therapy to deal with demons stemming from childhood abuse.

The Whole Lot More singer last year (07) revealed his alcoholic stepfather used to regularly subject him to alcohol-fuelled beatings.

So Currington decided to take half a year out from his music career to focus on a number of flaws in his own character, including a terrible temper, that were caused by his stepdad's abuse.

And now the 34-year-old has put the past behind him, he's eyeing a return to performing.

He says, "My life was in an unhealthy place. I feel fortunate that I was in the right place to be able to take that short break and look at my inner self to begin a journey to fix what I felt was broken."

PAUL: 'MY LAST WORDS TO DIMEBAG WERE VAN HALEN'

Rocker VINNIE PAUL has broken his silence about the moments leading up to his brother 'DIMEBAG' DARRELL ABBOTT's onstage murder in 2004.

Guitarist Abbott was among those killed when an obsessed fan went crazy at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio during the first song of a Damageplan show in December 2004.

And drummer Paul recalls that the last words he and his late sibling said to each other was the name of legendary band Van Halen.

He tells British magazine Metal Hammer, "The last thing that really matters to me is the last thing we said to each other before we went on stage.

"We were warming up on the side of the stage like we always did and we were both really excited - we only had two shows left and we were gonna be going home for Christmas and to begin work on the second (Damageplan) record.

Our code word to let it all hang out and have a good time was 'Van Halen'. And that's the last two words we ever said to each other. I said, 'Van Halen' and he said, 'Van Halen' and we high-fived each other and went on the deck to do our thing

"And a minute and a half later I'll never see him again."

HOGAN RECALLS 'NIGHTMARE' OF RECEIVING SON'S CRASH NEWS

Wrestling superstar HULK HOGAN has spoken of the moment he found out his son NICK had been involved in a car crash - describing it as his 'worst nightmare'.

Nick Bollea, 17, had his driving licence suspended for a year in November (07) after Florida officials deemed him a dangerous driver, following an August (07) accident that left his friend John Graziano needing nursing care for the rest of his life.

And Hogan shudders at the memory of receiving a phone call informing him about the accident.

He says, "That is your worst nightmare as a parent, to hear there's been a car wreck.

"Thank God, everything's getting better - Nick's doing OK, his buddy John Graziano is getting better everyday. Thank God."

Last month (Dec08), Graziano's mother Debra revealed her 22-year-old son is semi-conscious, can open his eyes, and he recently leaned away from her when she tried to touch his face.

However, she said Graziano has still not spoken and can't breathe without the help of a machine.

Meanwhile, Bollea has been charged with reckless driving involving serious bodily injury and will be tried as an adult when his case reaches court.

CHANNING IN BANK DURING RAID

Hollywood veteran CAROL CHANNING was caught up in a bank robbery in Palm Desert, California on Friday (25Jan07) afternoon.

The 86-year-old Oscar nominee was in a branch of the Washington Mutual Bank when a man walked in and handed a cashier a note demanding money.

Police say the teller complied, and the unarmed suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash, reports U.S. TV channel CBS 2.

Channing says, "Well, along with a lot of other people, I've been robbed."

The incident marks the second time the actress has been linked to a robbery.

In September (07), a thief stole Channing's priceless diamond dress from her luggage at the Hollywood Renaissance hotel. The gown was later returned by a homeless man, who told a security guard he found it in a nearby park.

ILL STRAIT POSTPONES GIGS

Veteran country star GEORGE STRAIT has been forced to reschedule three concerts because he is suffering from laryngitis.

The 55-year-old postponed gigs in Jacksonville, Florida; Columbia, South Carolina; and Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday (24Jan08), Friday (25Jan08) and Saturday (26Jan08) respectively due to his illness.

The Baltimore show has been rescheduled for 4 April (08), while the Columbia and Jacksonville concerts will now take place on 5 and 6 April (08).
