Singer JOSS STONE has slammed the British media for regularly mocking her fake American accent - and insists she will not be upset if U.K. fans boycott her music.

The 20-year-old Brit - who has spent recent years working in the U.S. - was ridiculed by the tabloid press after she stepped to the stage at the 2007 Brit Awards and debuted a new hairstyle and American accent.
But while the soul star admits she was shocked by the public's reaction, she maintains she doesn't mind if her native Britain rejects her.
She says, "At the end of the day, I don't give a f**k if people have a problem with my accent. That's all I can say about it. The words I say do not change.
"If the way that it sounds is skew-whiff and you don't like it, don't listen. I'm not being a cruel person by sounding a different way.
"I made my album with a bunch of Americans. When people go to Australia for two weeks they come back sounding Australian - but the whole world doesn't turn round and say, 'Well, f**k you.' Which is basically what England had done.
"Obviously not everybody in England. But the big press people. They were just like, 'You know what? We've decided we don't like you anymore.'"

Singer SHERYL CROW has slammed the media for prying into one of the most devastating periods of her life - and the people who bought the tabloid reports for entertainment.

The 45-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2006 just days after ending her three-year relationship with fellow cancer sufferer and cyclist Lance Armstrong.
And the star believes the events sparked an ever-present paparazzi frenzy that put a strain on her recovery.
She says, "Having 100 paparazzi outside my gate at all times because of the terrible things that were happening, it really spoke to me about who we are.
"If this is what makes people want to buy magazines - someone at their absolute lowest - that is a very sad message. I found the whole experience was very difficult. I went from being linked with one of the most famous cancer survivors to then begin diagnosed with cancer."

U.S. fans will pay tribute to late actor HEATH LEDGER next week at a public memorial service in Los Angeles.
Fans continue to leave artwork and letters in honour of Heath Ledger's life and career in film. New York City, USA - 26.01.08

The casket then began its two-day journey to the actor's hometown of Perth, Australia, where Ledger will be laid to rest at a family funeral next week.
The 28-year-old was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday (22Jan08). An autopsy carried out on Wednesday (23Jan08) failed to reveal how the actor died, although police believe his death is drug-related as sleeping pills were found by his bed.

U.S. TV hosts OPRAH WINFREY and BARBARA WALTERS are embroiled in a multi-million-dollar bidding war for an exclusive interview with the parents of British missing child MADELEINE McCANN.
OPRAH WINFREY and BARBARA WALTERS
The talk show rivals have each offered Gerry and Kate McCann $2 million (GBP1 million) to open up about their four-year-old daughter's disappearance while on a family holiday at a resort in Portugal last May (07).
The McCanns - who are still suspects in the case - insist the cash from the lucrative TV appearance would be put toward The Find Madeleine Appeal, which is said to have dwindled to $800,000 (GBP400,000) from the $2.4 million (GBP1.2 million) it had raised with donations from the public.
Clarence Mitchell, the couple's spokesman, says, "We've been approached by representatives for both Oprah and Barbara. They want an exclusive interview with Kate and Gerry. We are discussing it but nothing has been agreed."

But fans in the country are calling for a ban on the condoms - because they don't want to offend the British sportsman.
A fan explains, "We do not want Beckham to think the Chinese people are disrespecting him. We love him here."

Smart is partnered instead with the only other agent whose identity has not been compromised: the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). As Smart and 99 get closer to unraveling KAOS' master plan—and each other—they discover that key KAOS operative Siegfried (Terence Stamp) and his sidekick Shtarker (Kenneth Davitian) are scheming to cash in with their network of terror. Before forming Ola Podrida, David Wingo scored scores of movies, including last year's too-little-seen Great World of Sound.
He returns to that day job with this acoustic, reverby cover of Joy Division's "Atmosphere", which will figure prominently in the upcoming technohorror gorefest The Signal. In the flick, which was made by a collective of Atlanta-based directors and is told Rashomon-style from three different viewpoints, haunted transmissions turn people into homicidal lunatics via their televisions and cell phones. Then some of those homicidal lunatics turn into zombies. There will be blood.
For a song on a character's mix CD, Ola Podrida take Joy Division's looking-into-the-abyss anthem "Atmosphere" and slow it down only slightly, retaining all the darkness of the original but creating a new atmosphere that offsets the violence promised in the movie's trailer. Wingo delivers the lyrics in a whisper, quieting some of Ian Curtis's concerns but making that central line-- "Don't walk away in silence" -- sound like a gentle lover's plea instead of an expression of existential disappointment. Ultimately, this measured, subdued cover takes just the right liberties: Forgoing those thundering drums of the original and Martin Hannett's vast, empty sound, Ola Podrida create a subtly murky background ambience behind the Manchester tambourine, menacing bassline, and heraldic guitars, as if that haunted signal were seeping into your brain via your earbuds.
