SIMPSON DENIES BREAKING BAIL TERMS

LATEST: O.J. SIMPSON has denied allegations he violated the terms of his bail agreement by attempting to contact a fellow defendant.

The former American footballer-turned-actor was released on $125,000 (GBP62,500) bail in September (07) on charges of kidnapping and armed robbery after he led a raid on a sports memorabilia collector's Las Vegas hotel room.

But his bail was revoked on Friday (11Jan08) after the Clark County District Attorney discovered evidence suggesting he had tried to get in touch with fellow defendant Clarence Stewart via his bail bondsman, Miguel Periera.

In the ill-advised phone message, obtained by TMZ.com, Simpson says, "I just want CJ to know that the whole thing all the time he was tellin' me that s**t, ya know, I hope he was telling me the truth, don't be trying to change the mother f***ing s**t now, mother f***ing a**holes, I'm tired of this s**t.

"(I'm) fed up with mother f**kers changing what they told me."

Simpson was ordered to return to Nevada from his Florida home and was put behind bars on Saturday (12Jan08), while he awaits a court hearing on Wednesday (16Jan08).

But the 60-year-old insists he is innocent of the new claims.

His attorney, Yale Galanter, says, "O.J. did not try to persuade anybody to contact a witness."

Stewart's lawyer, Jose Pallares, said he had no knowledge that Simpson's message ever got to his client.

Under his bail agreement, Simpson was ordered to have no contact with his fellow defendants. He is due to stand trial along with Stewart and Charles Ehrlich on 12 charges resulting from the alleged robbery on 7 April (08).
