SPEARS BUYS FAKE GUCCI

Britney Spears stunned a Mexican retailer when she popped in to her quaint gift shop - and purchased a fake Gucci bag.

The troubled pop star - who was on a short break at the Rosarito Beach Hotel with her paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib - paid an impromptu visit to the accessory store close by to her resort.

And despite her self-destructive nature, Britney evidently takes a more careful approach to her finances. The singer limited her spending to four rosary beads and two handbags - one of which was the Gucci replica at a cost of approximately $20 (£10) - as modelled by the recently enriched shopkeeper.

Spears headed to sunny Mexico to escape the furore sparked by her three-hour stand-off with police last week (03Jan08) after she refused to hand her children back to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
