Director OLIVER STONE has travelled to Colombia to collect three hostages who are to be released by Marxist rebels.
The Platoon filmmaker was in Venezuela to film a documentary about Latin America and North America when he decided to accompany the Venezuelan-led air mission to pick up the hostages.
But Stone refused to say whether he would film the actual rescue of the hostages.
He says, "It's wonderful. I've never been in such a thing and I'm proud to be part of this."
The hostages - who were kidnapped in 2001 - are expected to regain their freedom on Saturday (29Dec07).
