KEOUGH TO REMAIN IN JAIL OVER CHRISTMAS

LATEST: Baseball player-turned-reality TV star MATT KEOUGH will spend Christmas (07) in jail after a judge revoked his probation on a drink-driving charge on Friday (21Dec07).

The Real Housewives Of Orange Country star will be held without bail until his arraignment on 14 January (07).

The 52-year-old was picked up by police when officers reportedly found him drinking in a Marriott Hotel bar in Newport Beach, California on Tuesday (18Dec07).

Keough admitted driving under the influence in 2005 - part of his probation

for that offence was a ban on consuming alcohol.

On Friday, Keough's attorney Dan Grisby claimed a head injury his client sustained in 1992 when he was hit in the head by a baseball is responsible for his drinking.

Grisby said, "We're convinced that this (drinking) is related to the brain injury that he suffered. I've known him since high school and he hasn't been the same since.

"We're looking to get him the help he needs. We don't think him being in jail serves any purpose."

During his baseball career, Keough played with the New York Yankees, the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Astros before retiring from the sport in 1986.
