MINNILLO + LACHEY IN SECRET WEDDING CEREMONY?
Pop singer NICK LACHEY and TV presenter/actress VANESSA MINNILLO are getting married this weekend (08Dec07) in the Bahamas, according to U.S. reports.

The pair - who have been dating since April 2006 - is said to be exchanging vows in a secret ceremony at one of the Carlyle Hotels on the tropical island.
Minnillo's entourage arrived at the luxury residence on Friday (07Dec07) afternoon, according to Fox News.
Lachey, 34, who moved in to Minnillo's New York apartment in April (07), was previously married to Jessica Simpson, and starred with her in the hit MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick + Jessica.
Representatives for the couple could not be reached at the time WENN went to press.
Earlier this year (Mar07), Simpson said she was stung when Lachey jumped back into dating after their high-profile breakup.
Simpson filed for divorce in December 2005 after three years of marriage, and is now reportedly dating Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo.

Relatively unknown rapper Willie Lyons has begun legal proceedings against the Crank That star - real name DeAndre Way - for trademark infringement of his alias.
U.S. gossip blogger Perez Hilton has published a letter from a legal representative for Lyons, which reads, "I am writing on behalf of the law firm of Alexander, Odunze + Kang LLP to give you a heads up re: the attached complaint, which was filed in federal court this afternoon on behalf of Willie Lyons (professionally known as) Souljah Boy.
"By way of background (and as you may already know), Mr. Lyons, known in commerce as Souljah Boy for over twelve years, is suing artist Soulja Boy (birth name: DeAndre Way), his record label, attorney + manager in connection with his blatant infringement of Mr. Lyons' trademark."
Soulja Boy has yet to respond to the claims.

STRUMMER'S WIDOW REVEALS CACHE OF UNHEARD CLASH SONGS
The widow of THE CLASH frontman JOE STRUMMER has unearthed a treasure trove of scribbled notes, cartoons, and forgotten song lyrics left by the late musician.

In her first interview since the rocker died in 2002, Lucinda Mellor tells how the secret possessions will form the basis of a tribute book to the uniquely talented musician, which will be produced in conjunction with his friend, the artist Damien Hirst.
The discovery was made in a room buried in the depths of the farmhouse she shared with her husband, which she rarely if ever ventured into while he was alive. When Strummer returned home after a tour, he would throw his suitcases into the room, leaving them jumbled alongside other suitcases he brought back from his travels.
Mellor left the suitcases untouched until long after her husband died of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. But when she finally ventured into the room to investigate the baggage, she was astonished at the contents.
She tells British newspaper The Independent, "I suddenly realised that each bag was pertinent to a week on tour or a session.
"Each bag told a story which was amazing. I had done quite a bit of sorting before I really realised..."
When the value of her discovery dawned, Mellor drafted in the artist Gordon McHarg to help archive the material, cataloguing it and storing it between acid-proof paper.
If sold at auction, the memorabilia could fetch tens of thousands of dollars. But for now, Mellor plans to convert the material into a book, co-authored by Hirst.
She adds, "It's not something that's going to be rushed into; it's going to be beautifully done. It'll be like an art book, with photographs, lyrics, drawings, maybe unreleased songs, rarities. It'll have CDs in it, rare Joe stuff - we'll see what we've got."

Laine says, "(I have) a lovely picture of her receiving her diploma from Ruthie Henshall, who starred in Chicago, Cats, Les Miserables.
"Victoria was going to come one year and hand out diplomas, too. Unfortunately, she had to cancel near the date because of a photo session. But perhaps one day she will."
Laine remembers Beckham, then Victoria Adams, as a hardworking student without "major talent."
She adds, "She was quite a good tap dancer and she was very driven. Victoria was determined without being pushy. She put her head down and got on with it. She was beautifully groomed, immaculate all the time."

When asked what 2007 has taught him, he admits, "F**k all (nothing). Algebra? B Minor? Patience, perhaps? Obviously the low point was the whole divorce thing. That situation isn't madly great. But there you go. Patience is required. It's happening and I'm working through the process.
But the former Beatle insists the year's hardships have resulted in an outpouring of optimistic music:
"I tend to do hopeful songs in order to counteract the angst. I'm not so good at angst-ridden songs. My natural optimism tends to take over."
Mills and McCartney have been separated since May 2006 and have a four-year-old daughter, Beatrice, together.

AFRICAN STARS RECORD U2 COVERS ALBUM IN TRIBUTE TO BONO
Some of Africa's top musicians have paid tribute to rocker BONO's humanitarian efforts by recording a new album of U2 cover songs.

In The Name Of Love: Africa Celebrates U2 sees stars including singer Angelique Kidjo, hip-hop band African Underground All-Stars and Soweto Gospel Choir cover some of the Irish band's best-known material.
And Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars team-up with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry for a run through U2's 1983 song Seconds.
A percentage of the album's sales will be donated to the Global Fund charity, which fights HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
The disc's co-producer Shawn Amos says, "A lot of the familiar hooks are there but played in cadences and with instruments that are indigenous to African people.
"It's a testament to how global U2 is, that you can instantly recognise a song when it has been deconstructed, translated and played with different instrumentation."

Actor LEONARDO DICAPRIO has received an honorary award from director MARTIN SCORSESE at the opening of the seventh Marrakesh Film Festival in Morocco.

Scorsese lavished praise on the 33-year-old as he presented him with a Golden Star Award on Friday (07Dec07), paying tribute to him for "always working till he breaks through the psychological depth of the character he has to play."

DiCaprio, who has worked with the Oscar-winner on three films to date - Gangs of New York, Aviator and The Departed - paid tribute, returned the compliment by calling him "a legend".
The pair is set to reunite next year (08) for their fourth movie together, thriller Shutter Island.
Moroccan director Mostafa Darkaoui was also awarded a Golden Star in recognition of his contribution to cinema in his homeland.
More than 100 films will be shown at this year's festival, which opened with a screening of period drama Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
The festival, which honoured Scorsese himself in 2005, runs until 15 December (07).

British royal PRINCE HARRY will attempt to rekindle his relationship with girlfriend CHELSY DAVY by taking her on a holiday in Africa, according to reports.

A source tells British newspaper Daily Mail, "It really is make-or-break time and this holiday is a good chance for them to talk things over away from the pressures they face at home. Harry and Chelsy are both more at home in Africa, so it is the perfect place for them to talk things through.
"Harry is under no illusions, though, about how close he has come to losing her. Chelsy has left most of her belongings at her house in Leeds, but at the moment she fully intends to come back and clear them out in the New Year. A lot is riding on how this holiday goes."
The 23-year-old will return in time to spend Christmas with the royal family at Windsor, while Davy will spend the holiday in Kenya with her brother Shaun.

Former tennis champion BORIS BECKER will soon serve up aces of a different kind - he's training to compete in international poker tournaments.

The 40-year-old German has been named ambassador of PokerStars, the world's largest online poker site, with more than 11 million players.

CONRAD BLACK: 'I WILL SURVIVE JAIL SENTENCE'
Media tycoon CONRAD BLACK has acknowledged for the first time that he may be sentenced to prison after being found guilty of fraud.
Since being convicted of embezzling $6 million (GBP3 million) from Hollinger Inc shareholders earlier this year (13Jul07), the former owner of British broadsheet The Daily Telegraph has been battling the U.S. Department of Justice, denying the charges accused of him.
In a series of e-mails to Canadian programme CBS News from his Palm Beach, Florida home, where he must remain until his sentence is announced, he writes, "Prison will be a bore, but quite endurable. I can get on with anyone and adjust to almost anything, and I don't consider (prison) shaming.
"Prison will be a badge of honour to help expose prosecutorial excesses, the frailties of the plea bargain system."
The sentencing will take place on Monday (10Dec07) - he faces a possible 35 years in prison.

HOLLYWOOD WRITERS TALKS COLLAPSE
LATEST: Talks between striking screenwriters and Hollywood producers have broken down in Los Angeles - leaving the future of hit shows 24, GREY'S ANATOMY and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES at a standstill.
Now in its fifth week, the strike has closed down dozens of popular American TV shows and delayed production on movies. And with no sign of a breakthrough in negotiations over pay, each side is suggesting the other is to blame for a lack of progress.
The dispute centres on how writers should be compensated for their work when it appears on DVD or the Internet.
The employers, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers blamed the breakdown on what it called an ongoing union strategy to delay or derail talks.
But in a letter sent to its members the Writers Guild of America accused the producers group of dragging its heels in putting new proposals on the table.

MILLER WINS PRIVACY LAWSUIT
Actress SIENNA MILLER has won an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed against two British newspapers after they published nude photographsof the star taken while she was filming a movie.

The Factory Girl beauty sued tabloids The Sun and News of the World, along with the photo agency that supplied the snaps from the set of her movie Hippie Hippie Shake, after they were printed in October (07).
She was awarded $75,000 (£37,500) in damages following the ruling in a British court on Friday (07Dec07).
News Group Newspapers - the parent company of the two tabloids - also agreed not to reprint the photos and delete all existing copies, according to Miller's attorney.
But the British star is still pressing legal action against the individual photographer. An application for a default judgement is expected to be heard next month (Jan08).
