MISS CHINA WINS MISS WORLD TITLE
Miss China ZHANG ZILIN has been crowned Miss World 2007 after winning the beauty pageant in her home country on Saturday (01Dec07).
The former office secretary, 23, beat competition from Miss Angola and Miss Mexico, who came in second and third place respectively, to take the title at the prestigious ceremony in Sanya, China.
During the interview stage of the contest, raven-haired Zilin declared her aspirations to become "a link between the Olympic Games (in Beijing in 2008) and the Miss World Organisation."
She added: "I want to use the power and beauty of Miss World to support those in need."
The 57th Miss World pageant was held on World AIDS Day to raise awareness of the disease, and organisers even invited former South African president Nelson Mandela's eldest daughter, Maki, to serve on the judging panel.
