TRUMP GOLF CLUB COUNCILLOR ASSAULTED

A councillor who helped throw out DONALD TRUMP's proposal for a $1 billion (GBP500 million) golf resort in Scotland has been attacked on her doorstep.

Debra Storr, a 47-year-old Aberdeenshire councillor, was terrified when a woman began shouting obscenities at her for voting against the U.S. tycoon's plan. She was then pushed into by the unidentified abuser.

The assault came a day after Trump's proposals for "the best golf course in the world" were rejected on environmental grounds, leaving tourist-hungry local business leaders reeling.

Storr and six colleagues on Aberdeenshire Council's infrastructure committee voted against Trump's scheme to build two courses, a hotel, a golf academy and 1,500 homes at a site of special scientific interest near Balmedie, Aberdeenshire on Thursday (29Nov07).

Although Trump can appeal, he has threatened to build the course elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Aberdeenshire Council is trying to resurrect the plans. Leader Anne Robertson has called a meeting of all members to find a way to allow the Trump project to go ahead.
