DEAD POETS SOCIETY star ROBERT SEAN LEONARD has gone public with his one-time crush on lesbian SEX + THE CITY star CYNTHIA NIXON.

Leonard, who now stars in TV hit House, admits he fell in love with the actress when they were both teenagers, working on a New York play.

He says, "She was playing my sister and I was so in love with her I couldn't stand it.

"She had long blonde hair and was the coolest girl I'd ever seen. I don't think she ever noticed that I was there."

The pair kept in touch after the play ended and became great friends, but never lovers.

Nixon is now involved in a lesbian relationship, while Leonard has been dating former equestrian Gabriella Slack for the past decade.
