PRINCE HARRY QUIZZED OVER BIRD SHOOTING

British royal PRINCE HARRY has been questioned by police over the illegal shooting of two birds of prey.

The Prince and a close friend were quizzed by cops in Norfolk, England, after locals witnessed two hen harriers being shot in mid-flight last Wednesday (24Oct07).

Sources claim the 23-year-old royal and his pal were the only people known to be out shooting on the Sandringham palace estate at the time of the incident.

An investigation has been launched into the matter, although the pair - who denies any involvement in the incident - have not been named as suspects.

A spokesman for the young royal says, "Because Prince Harry and a friend were both in the area at the time, the police have been in contact with them, and asked them if they have any information that could help. Unfortunately, they've no knowledge of the alleged incident."

The killing of hen harriers is punishable with a six month jail sentence or a $10,000 (GBP5,000) fine, because the creatures are a protected species under British law.
