COWELL: 'I'M A FATHER TO FIVE MILLION'

AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL sees himself as a father figure to five million kids - namely the show's audience.

The music mogul, 48, insists he is happy for his fatherly instinct to stay that way, as he believes he's too career-obsessed to have children with 33-year-old partner Terri Seymour.

He says, "I've got about five million kids in the world at the moment - all the kids that watch our shows.

"I still have a lifestyle right now that is so unstable in many ways, in terms of the hours and travelling. It's 18 hours a day.

"Terri is keen. But I was open from day one. I was 43 when we met and I said, 'I can't see this changing. I'm sort of obsessed with my work and I have a feeling it's going to get worse.'"
