Art lovers ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT have given graffiti guru BANKSY a major earnings boost.
The British 'guerilla artist', whose name has been touted across Hollywood after Pitt and Jolie splashed out $2 million (GBP1 million) for one of his works earlier this year (07), made more than $1million (GBP500,000) in his biggest auction of original works yet on Wednesday (24Oct07).
The 10 pieces and a print were expected to raise a maximum of $600,000 (GBP300,000) in total when they were sold in London at auction house Bonhams. But the works have in fact fetched $1.92 million (GBP546,000) altogether.
Other celebrity fans of the London-based spray paint artist - who likes to remain anonymous - include Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker.
