OSMOND WAS SHORT OF BREATH LAST CHRISTMAS

Singer MARIE OSMOND first realised she had a breathing issue when she found herself gasping for air during rehearsals for a Christmas tour last year (06).

The ageing sweetheart passed out on live TV in America on Monday (21Oct07) after performing a samba routine with dance partner Jonathan Roberts on U.S. reality show Dancing With The Stars.

She says, "In November of 2006, while rehearsing for my national Christmas tour, I found myself in the wings, seriously catching my breath.

"I had been singing and dancing across the stage and learned the hard way that hauling out the holly can be tiring!

"My oldest son, Stephen, who is also a performer, said to me, 'Mom, please take better care of yourself. I want you around for my children, too.'"

But Osmond is a little confused as to why she fainted on Dancing With The Stars - because the show has helped get her into the best shape of her life.

She explains, "(Show costume designer) Randall Christensen told me that I've lost three inches off my waist since the beginning of rehearsals. That's motivation!

"I can't imagine that I will let myself return to the way I felt before... Now all I need is the stamina to get through the foxtrot in heels!"
