Hip-hop star NAS has been slammed by REVEREND JESSE JACKSON - because the controversial title of his new album NIGGA 'makes a mockery' of the race issue.
The outspoken civil rights campaigner has urged media outlets and fans to boycott the release when it hits stores, in an effort to make Nas see the error of his ways.
Jackson tells AllHipHop.com, "The title using the 'N' word is morally offensive and socially distasteful.
"Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honour in it.
"Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade, making mockery of racism."
But the Hate Me Now rapper has found an unlikely fan in disgraced U.S. DJ, Don Imus - who was axed from CBS Radio earlier this year (Apr07) after he referred to the mostly-black Rutgers University Women's Basketball Team as "nappy-headed hos" on his radio show, Imus In The Morning.
Imus' spokesman, Martin Garbus, says, "It's a good thing. Words like that should be deprived of their meanings, and then they can't hurt."
