MIRREN BEGGED BY HUSBAND TO TAKE ROLE

Director TAYLOR HACKFORD was forced to beg his wife DAME HELEN MIRREN to agree to take a starring role in his new film.

Hackford pleaded with The Queen star to appear as the wife of U.S. actor Joe Pesci in forthcoming movie Love Ranch, and was delighted when his spouse agreed.

He says, "I've developed this project for a long time and one of the things that excited me most was the chance to work again with my wife.

"I had to beg! She's a very busy girl. She wouldn't agree unless it was a great role - and this is a great role."

It's not the first time the pair have worked together: Hackford directed Mirren in 1985 thriller White Nights.

Love Ranch is slated to begin filming in January (08).
