Rappers KANYE WEST, COMMON and T.I. were the main winners at the 2007 B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday (13Oct07), with the artists taking home two gongs each.
The second annual ceremony was overshadowed by the arrest of T.I. hours before the event - where he was due to perform - but the troubled star still walked away a winner in two of the nine categories he was nominated for, including CD of the Year for T.I. vs T.I.P.
Common was awarded the accolade for Lyricist of the Year, while he shared T.I.'s CD of the Year honour with his latest disc, Finding Forever.
He voiced his support to the jailed star in his acceptance speech, saying: "I salute my guy T.I., who also won, wherever he is."
The Bring 'Em Out star was arrested on Saturday and charged with various felony firearms possessions.
Meanwhile, hip-hop legend KRS-One received the 'I Am Hip Hop' Icon Award, while West won Best Live Performance and Best Hip-Hop Video for Stronger.
Accepting the latter award, West uncharacteristically proclaimed that he was not worthy to be feted ahead of OutKast, saying: "I didn't deserve this award above them. They do instead of me."
But OutKast's Big Boi replied, "You worked too hard for this. You deserve it."
The B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards will air in the U.S. on 17 October (07).
