SUTHERLAND JAILED FOR DRINK DRIVING

LATEST: 24 actor KIEFER SUTHERLAND is to serve 48 days in jail for drink driving.

The hellraising actor was charged after police witnessed him making an illegal U-turn in Los Angeles last month (25Sep07).

A breath test allegedly found him to have twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Sutherland pleaded no contest to the charges on Tuesday (09Oct07) - and will be jailed for 48 days during breaks in filming for the hit TV show.

Court records state he will spend 30 days in jail for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit, and 18 days for violating his probation - relating to a previous DUI conviction in December 2004.

He also received a six month driving ban and must attend alcohol education classes for 18 months and weekly alcohol therapy sessions for six months.
