English singer DAME VERA LYNN is calling on the U.K government to award its troops for their bravery in war-torn countries.
The World War II singer is spearheading a campaign which could see British soldiers presented with a medal on their return from war.
The 90-year-old says, "A medal would boost morale and raise spirits far more than music ever could as it's a permanent reminder of their bravery.
"I know from talking to veterans an honour like this would have meant the world to them when they were injured.
"And families of those killed in the line of duty would have been so proud to be awarded the medal of a fallen loved one."
