SPEARS SUMMONED TO COURT

A Los Angeles judge has ordered BRITNEY SPEARS to attend her next court hearing in her ongoing child custody battle with ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE, or face the consequences, according to reports.

The news comes shortly after Los Angeles County Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled dancer/aspiring rapper Federline would retain custody of their two sons - Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one - while the troubled singer would be allowed monitored visitation rights.

The temporary ruling was made at a closed-door court session which lasted three hours on Wednesday (03Oct07) afternoon.

And TMZ.com claims both parents were recommended by the judge to attend Wednesday's hearing - but only Federline showed up, sporting an eyepatch underneath dark sunglasses.

Spears must now attend the 26 October (07) hearing or risk being reprimanded by Commissioner Gordon, according to the gossip site.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old's former bodyguard, Tony Barretto, was due to meet with U.S. Child Protective Services on Wednesday evening to discuss further his accusations against the singer.

Barretto has not been called to testify against his former boss, but went public with claims of Spears' alleged drug abuse and nudity around her kids.
