AL FAYED HITS OUT AT 'BIASED' DIANA INQUEST JUDGE

Egyptian tycoon MOHAMED AL FAYED has slammed the judge overseeing the new inquest into the death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, after he dismissed claims the British royal was pregnant at the time of her demise.

Lord Justice Scott Baker, the coroner presiding over the inquest, opened the latest investigation on Tuesday (02Oct07) with a speech addressing all of the unanswered questions and accusations the jury must look into before deciding on how the princess and her lover Dodi Fayed - Mohamed Al Fayed's son - died.

The couple were tragically killed in a 1997 Paris car crash, but Al Fayed claims they were the victims of a vicious murder plot headed by Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Phillip, and Diana's ex-husband Prince Charles.

But speaking at London's High Court on Tuesday, Lord Justice Scott Baker dismissed allegations of an assassination and the reports of a pregnancy, because the photograph showing Diana with a rounded belly was taken before she began her relationship with Dodi in 1997.

And 78-year-old Al Fayed is furious at the judge's comments, because it appeared to show bias.

His spokesman, Michael Cole, says, "Mohamed Al Fayed was surprised at the tone and the contents of the coroner's opening statement. Highly contentious and disputed material was introduced.

"Mr Al Fayed fears that the opening statement could present an appearance of bias, whether or not this was intended."

The inquest is expected to last six months.
