BROADCASTER SHERRIN DIES

British broadcaster and screenwriter NED SHERRIN has died. He was 76.

Sherrin lost his battle with throat cancer on Monday (01Oct07) and passed away at his home in Chelsea, south-west London.

He enjoyed a career spanning over 40 years and is best known for devising satirical BBC TV show, That Was The Week That Was in the 1960s and as a presenter on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends.

He later went on to become a successful film producer and playwright.
