CAPTAIN SENSIBLE was so convinced British punk group THE DAMNED's career would be shortlived he insisted on putting his photo on the cover of their first album - so he could show his aunt.

The colourful bass player, real name Ray Burns, thought the punk icons had just one album in them - and so he used it to prove to doubting family members he was in a band.
He reveals, "I was so convinced that The Damned would only last three weeks that I insisted on putting a passport photograph on the back cover.
"I just wanted to show my auntie in Glasgow a picture of me on a record. I didn't think I'd be allowed to make another one."
