SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has made an unlikely friend - recovering drug addict PETE DOHERTY.

The odd couple bonded when the former Beatle agreed to be interviewed by Doherty for a British music magazine.

And the two got on so well they continued to chat long after the interview ended.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "They spoke about everything from music, other singers and ever touched on the subject of women - but that was strictly between the two of them."
