EMMYS GO GREEN
The Emmy Awards will go green this weekend (16Sep07) as organisers attempt to turn the event into the most environmentally-conscious prizegiving ceremony ever.
The show's Shrine Auditorium location in Los Angeles will be powered by renewable energy, sourced from a combination of solar energy, wind energy and hydropower.
Additionally, a solar panel canopy is being installed over the Red Carpet grandstand for the show, reducing the amount of power pulled from generators and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The solar panel system will be donated to a local school.
Meanwhile, the event's red carpet will be made entirely of recycled plastic bottles and stars will be transported to the Emmys in hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles.
The catered food at the ceremony is also part of the 'Green With Emmy' campaign - it will all feature locally-grown and organic products.
