O'DONNELL: 'I BROKE MY BONES'

ROSIE O'DONNELL has revealed the most painful part of her childhood in a shocking new autobiography - she used to break her own fingers and limbs.

The actress-turned-U.S. TV personality admits she would break her own bones with "a baseball bat" or "a wooden hanger" to cope with the pain she felt after her mother died.

Writing in the much-anticipated new memoirs Celebrity Detox, O'Donnell reveals, "No one knew my secret... Proof I had some value, enough to be fixed."

And she found the cast she wore as a result of the bone breaks came in handy to defend herself from sexual predators.

She adds, "There were many benefits to having a cast. In the middle of the night, it was a weapon."

O'Donnell's new book also details her feelings about her former co-hosts on magazine show The View, which she quit earlier this year (07), and also features her harsh thoughts about her nemesis, tycoon Donald Trump, who she calls "a slug" in the book.

Trump isn't waiting to read her comments before attacking the A League of Their Own star.

Speaking on U.S. news show The Insider on Wednesday (12Sep07), Trump raged, "She went to my wedding and she ate a lot of the cake... Rosie is a total sick disaster, who frankly is not a very smart person."
