COLE: 'YOUNG TEENS ARE TOO DELICATE FOR TALENT SHOWS'

GIRLS ALOUD star CHERYL COLE has hit out at bosses of British TV talent show THE X FACTOR for dropping the minimum age of contestants to 14, insisting young teens are 'too delicate' to deal with the criticism.

Cole was 19 years old when she auditioned for TV contest Pop Stars: The Rivals, and claims younger children are too vulnerable to face the harsh words of judges.

She says, "At that age you're very delicate. You are going through your teenage years which are the craziest of your life. You don't quite know if you're coming or going or who you are.

"To have someone criticise you when you're that young is very hard. Give them a few years, a chance to finish school and they'll be ready."
