CARTER CASH RETURNS TO LATE FATHER'S COTTON FARM

JOHNNY CASH's son has returned to his late father's childhood cotton farm, so he can stuff a pillow with memories.

John Carter Cash, the son of the country legend and June Carter, had never visited the Dyess, Arkansas home his father told him about when he was a child - until recently.

The record producer strolled around the old farm and picked some cotton as part of a summer pilgrimage to his father's old haunts.

Cash says, "When I visit the places he walked and played, it brings to life many stories he told me about living here."

Willie Stegall, the current owner of the old Cash home, reveals the producer wandered through the old farm and spent some time in his father's old bedroom before planting a tree in the yard.

The trip to Dyess was arranged by local Mayor Larry Sims, who planned a series of stops for Cash - so he could see how locals had honoured his dad.

Carter Cash even met with some of his father's high school friends.

He ended the trip by collecting a sack full of cotton. He told Mayor Sims, "I plan to take my cotton home with me and make a pillow out of it."
