ARNOLD'S DIVORCE ON HOLD AS WIFE HELPS HIM THROUGH MEDICAL CRISIS

Actor TOM ARNOLD's divorce has been put on hold so his wife SHELBY can help the TRUE LIES star recover from a potential fatal sleeping disorder.

Arnold has spent the summer (07) hooked up to a CPAP Machine as he battles sleep apnea, which interrupts his dreams by literally taking his breath away.

After months of breathing and heart issues, the movie star's five best friends persuaded him to undergo a series of sleep tests because they feared his insomnia was ruining his life - and their's.

In a breathless rant on U.S. TV's The Late Show With David Letterman on Friday night (24Aug07), Arnold explained, "They weren't sure what was wrong with me but I was sending thousand word emails without any paragraph markings - but I don't know how to do paragraph markings - but they knew something was wrong with my brain.

"They made me take a sleep test and I quit breathing 48 times an hour which is a lot, so I'm on a CPAP Machine, so I don't die in my sleep, but I really wanted to die in my sleep.

"If you're gonna die, you do want to die in your sleep."

After his diagnosis, Arnold started to worry that his estranged wife, who shares a home with the actor, would try to poison him, while acting as his caregiver.

He added, "I eat a lot, there's a lot of opportunity."

But now the couple have put their divorce on hold to allow Arnold time to fully recover.

He explained, "She said, 'Let's forget about this divorce for now, let's not fight. I'm gonna take care of you.' Nobody has ever taken care of me like she has this summer."
