ALLEN: 'I DON'T HATE AMERICA'

British singer LILY ALLEN has defended her regular tirades against U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH insisting she still thinks America 'is a great place.'

The outspoken singer slammed Bush during her performance at England's V Festival on Saturday (18Aug07) following a recent U.S. working visa revocation.

Ahead of her song Everything Is Wonderful she said, "This next one is about people who are awkward on the train, U.S. immigration officials and George Bush in general."

But Allen insists it does not mean she hates America.

Writing on her MySpace blog, she says, "I have called George Bush a c**t at pretty much every show I have played over the past year. That is because I think he is one and I stand by that. You can make up your own mind as to whether you agree with me or not, that's just how I feel.

"Just because I hate George Bush doesn't mean I hate America, quite the opposite. I think the U.S. is a great place and I am really sad that I can't be there for my commitments scheduled for the near future.

"What I said about George Bush this weekend bears no relation to what happened a couple of weeks ago with my visa, that is an issue with the U.S. immigration service. I just wanted to let you all know that my "foul mouthed tirade" so widely reported over the past couple of days is actually pretty rehearsed and I've been saying it long before all this visa issue .
