ALLEN SLAMS BUSH

LILY ALLEN aimed a tirade of abuse at U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH during her performance at England's V Festival, blasting the statesman with obscenities.

The outspoken British pop star was performing at Weston Park in Stafford on Saturday (18Aug07) when she vented her anger following a recent U.S. working visa revocation.

Ahead of her song Everything Is Wonderful she said, "This next one is about people who are awkward on the train, U.S. immigration officials and George Bush in general."

She continued, "Who else can f**k off? People who edit fashion magazines... that makes us ladies feel awful. We're all beautiful - it's the heroin addict models who've got the problem."

FOO FIGHTERS' NIRVANA TRIBUTE

FOO FIGHTERS frontman DAVE GROHL has paid homage to his former band NIRVANA during a blistering set at England's V Festival.

Following a surprise acoustic show earlier in the day, the U.S. rockers took to the stage in Chelmsford, Essex on Saturday night (18Aug07) and made a teasing reference to the Smells Like Teen Spirit band.

Before launching into Learn To Fly, Grohl said, "This goes out to Snow Patrol, Pink and the band I used to drum for...

He added in jest, "...Juliette and The Licks! Man, I really blew that gig!"

FRAY STAR'S FESTIVAL CONFESSION

THE FRAY frontman ISAAC SLADE was in such a rush to get to England's V Festival he forgot to pack any underwear.

The singer stunned fans at Chelmsford, Essex on Saturday (18Aug07) by confessing he was playing his set commando because of the oversight flying from his native Colorado.

He said, "I didn't want to bring a suitcase so I grabbed a back pack.

"Unfortunately I forgot to pack any underwear!"

RICHIE ENGAGED?

Pregnant socialite NICOLE RICHIE agreed to marry boyfriend JOEL MADDEN on Thursday (16Aug07), a U.S. radio DJ reports.

Hot 99.5 morning show host Kane made the announcement at a Friday (19Aug07) party in Virginia, where Madden performed with his band Good Charlotte.

Following the set, Kane told guests, "He got engaged yesterday. Congratulations, Joel!"

And despite receiving no reaction from Madden, the DJ is sticking to his story, telling People.com, he offered his congratulations to the rocker earlier in the night and "He said, 'Thank you so much.'"

Kane adds, "They're very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal."

It seems the secret is already out though - while quizzing Madden about his relationship with Richie on his show on Thursday, U.S. TV personality Regis Philbin asked, "You're going to present her, maybe, with... A little ring, or something?"

A shocked Madden replied, "I was hoping it would be a surprise, but now..."

Richie is four and a half months pregnant with her first child with Madden.

GREER BRANDS DIANA 'DEVIOUS MORON'

LATEST: Feminist icon GERMAINE GREER has continued her public assault on the memory of late British royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, by branding her a 'devious moron'.

Last month (Jul07) the Female Eunuch author hinted the princess may have caused her own death "from (one) of her back-handed manipulations - it is said that she only went to Paris with her late lover Dodi Fayed in order to make heart surgeon Hasnat Khan jealous."

And, speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Saturday (18Aug07), Greer continued her verbal attack.

She said, "I have come to the conclusion that she was a devious moron.

"One of the things I have been puzzled by is why her whole life was such a mess. She made a mess of being Princess of Wales, but that is fine because the job is not do-able. It is an insane job and, in history, all but one of the Princesses of Wales have come to a sticky end - stickier than hers.

"I am also interested in why she couldn't manage life after being Her Royal Highness. It still puzzles me that she does that no-no thing: she sleeps with married men.

"...And this is the angel that people want to crown."

Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997.

WILLIAM AND KATE FUEL ROMANCE REPORTS WITH HOLIDAY

British royal PRINCE WILLIAM is rekindling his romance with on/off girlfriend KATE MIDDLETON in a romantic getaway to the Seychelles.

A source tells Britain's News of the World, "They spent Friday snorkelling on a coral reef. They plan to have a relaxing weekend and are due to go fishing this week."

STREEP BOOSTS BELFAST ARTS CENTRE CAMPAIGN

Hollywood star MERYL STREEP gave a Belfast, Ireland fundraising campaign a boost this weekend (18-19Aug07) by appearing in person to promote a new arts centre.

The actress flew over from filming in London to urge a cash injection into the Metropolitan Arts Centre project, which requires a further GBP1.5 million ($3 million) to reach its GBP16.5 million ($33 million) target.

She said, "I'm proud to come to Belfast to celebrate this city's commitment to the centre and its great good work.

"The project is a cause for celebration and a template for hope."

The facility is due to open in 2011.

FATHER'S FEARS OVER MADONNA ADOPTION TROUBLE

The biological father of MADONNA's adopted son DAVID BANDA fears the child may not survive if sent back to his native Malawi.

Farmer Yohane Banda fears recent administrative wrangles could see the toddler sent back to the orphanage he was taken from, and is adamant the pop superstar and director husband Guy Ritchie can provide a better quality of life for the 14-month-old in the U.K.

He says, "I wouldn't love it if David came home because he may not survive here in our poor conditions."

The adoption process has been delayed after a visit by a Malawian official to check on the suitability of David's new home was cancelled due to a reported lack of funds.

SPEARS' REHAB FACILITY RECEIVES SUBPOENA

Troubled pop star BRITNEY SPEARS has received another blow in her custody battle with KEVIN FEDERLINE - her ex has delivered a subpoena to the rehab facility she attended, according to reports.

The 25-year-old singer and Federline's divorce was finalised last month (30Jul07), with the couple agreeing to joint custody of their sons Sean Preston, 23 months; and Jayden James, 11 months.

However, following Spears' erratic behaviour in recent weeks, Federline is now seeking full custody of the two boys and has already subpoenaed her assistant Alli Sims, her former sidekick Shannon Funk, and her bodyguard Daimon Shippen to testify in the case.

California's Promises Treatment Center - which the singer entered in February (07) for a month - was allegedly served with a subpoena on Saturday morning (18Aug07).

A spokesperson from Promises refused to discuss developments, saying, "This is a confidential facility and we cannot comment."

Meanwhile British newspapers report Federline has also hunted down a mystery brunette girl who was snapped frolicking with Spears in Copenhagen, Denmark, in May 2004 on her Onyx Hotel tour.

BERGMAN BURIED

Late Swedish filmmaker INGMAR BERGMAN has been buried in a private ceremony on his home island in the Baltic sea.

The writer/director died last month (30Jul07) at the age of 89. He was laid to rest in a plain wood coffin in the churchyard on the island of Faro this weekend (18-19Aug07).

Local media reports only a small circle of family and friends attended.

Bergman's remains were buried on a site that he had chosen at the cemetery, the family said in a statement.

DIRECTOR DAHM'S WIFE DENIES MARRIAGE COLLAPSE

LATEST: The wife of the Chilean film director accused of having an affair with KYLIE MINOGUE has dismissed reports her marriage is over.

Laura and Alexander Dahm's relationship has been dogged by rumours of infidelity over his friendship with the Australian pop star, despite all parties denying the claims.

Recently, newspapers speculated Laura had walked out on her husband just weeks after giving birth because she felt humiliated by persistent reports he was being unfaithful.

But, speaking from her parents' home in Mexico on Saturday (18Aug07), Laura said, "I had my baby three weeks ago so am resting here.

"I am very tired and do not want to talk. This has all been too much for me. There is nothing wrong with me and Alex."
